Secret "Criminal Terrorism Investigation" Targets Indymedia
U.S. Government Argues Gag Order Should Be Upheld
11/16: EFF continues push for access to secret court order
The U.S. government has responded to EFF's motion to unseal documents pertaining to the seizure of Indymedia's hard drives in the U.K. U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton claims that EFF doesn't have standing, that signed treaties allow the U.S. government to maintain total secrecy, and that this is a "terrorism investigation." According to Sutton, "the unsealing of the documents on file in the matter would seriously jeopardize the investigation. The non-disclosure is necessitated by a compelling government interest."
