2nd Annual LGBT Veteran's Day Event: Thursday, Nov. 11, 1:00 - 3:00 PM, Chapel of the Chimes,
4499 Piedmont Ave. Oakland
MECA & Chapel of the Chimes are hosting a celebration to honor America's LGBT Veterans for their
patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. 1:00 to
2:30 followed by a reception. Program to include Color Guard from Post 448, American Veterans
for Equal Rights, Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, Military Education Initiative and
others. Veterans will share their personal stories.
There are currently over 65,000 lgbt servicemembers who must conceal their sexual orientation or
be fired.
There are over one million lbgt veteran's in this country. "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," must be
revoked.
Please, everyone who can, schedule two hours this Veteran's Day to show your support for those
who serve under such a discriminatory policy and to show that our community wants full equal
rights to go with the responsibilities we already take on.
