Demand an Open Grand Jury for Johnnie Nakao

URGENT: D.A. Karen Sinunu says: Closed Grand Jury for Johnnie Nakao. We say NO!!!!

Hi all,
I received a phone call today informing me that Karen Sinunu, the D.A. of Santa Clara County, informed her that the Grand Jury regarding the shooting death of Johnnie Nakao will be CLOSED. The Deputy D.A. handling the case is Peter Waite.

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

Johnnie Nakao was only 21-years-old; he was shot and killed on 12th August 2004 in East San Jose. He had attempted to take a CD player from the Radio Shack on Story Road. He was caught and he left the store without the CD player. The cops had been called to the scene, Johnnie posed no imminent danger threat to the cops present, they had no reason to shoot him dead.

PLEASE call the D.A.s office and say that you want an Open Grand Jury investigation into the shooting death of Johnnie Nakao. Please call the Deputy D.A. and the D.A.

PLEASE act on this now. We do not have much time. Once they have a Closed Grand Jury, the matter is closed, the public will hear nothing and the cops involved will not be held accountable in any way, shape or form. We must stand together and demand an Open Grand Jury hearing for Johnnie Nakao. The D.A.'s department is waiting for the coroner's report and the Grand Jury will happen in November or December 2004. This gives us a very small window of opportunity to put the pressure on. Let's make sure that this Grand Jury for Johnnie will be OPEN!
