JOHN ROSS:

Report back from the Indian Heart of Latin America
– recent struggles in Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador

Saturday, June 12th at 7 pm

New College Theater, 777 Valencia Street, San Francisco

Poet / activist / correspondent John Ross, dubbed "the New John Reed" by La Jornada, Mexico's most progressive daily, will present his much-lauded new book "Murdered by Capitalism – A Memoir of 150 Years of Life and Death on the U.S. Left."

The hot-off-the-press volume, hailed by its publisher Nation Books as "a night of the living dead of the American Left", has earned kudos from such literary bigwigs as elusive novelist Thomas Pynchon ("it is a rip-snorting and honorable account of an outlaw tradition in American politics which too seldom gets past the bouncers at the gateway to our national narrative …I salute Brother Ross") and Beat Generation godfather Lawrence Ferlinghetti ("a hilarious way to learn the down-home history of the American Left's heroic past…bravo to John Ross!") (see http://www.nationbooks.com for further information.)

Ross, a human shield in Iraq and Palestine, who has just returned from a month-long tour of the Indian Heart of Latin America, will also be reporting back on indigenous struggles in Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador during his up-coming California tour.
