CSU Hayward had a student walk out today, protesting the secret budget negotiations between the CA government and Chancellor Reed. Student and faculty organizations throughout the CSU were not consulted in the decision making process to raise CSU tuitions by an additional 14%-25% for this upcoming school year, as well as several consecutive years to come.

We hope the budget cuts to higher education and the fee increases will only be a short term obstacle for CA's youth. But this won't be the case. Within this decade we'll see a decline in the quality of life for CA because of the tens of thousands of young adults who have now effectively been priced out of higher education. As students and concerned citizens we can fight back against these devastating budget cuts by organizing more protests, writing to our local politicians, and increasing personal awareness of issues that affect all of us.

Some of us have no chance of going to college at all, you know? Now your mommies and daddies have to pay a little more to keep your yuppie butts in college? Try living in my world! I have to steal hubcaps and recycle cans to feed my family and pay the rent on my pickup! Cry me a river, yuppie scum!

Hey! Y'know there are plenty of people that live in their cars and steal hbcaps just to make sure they get that education in order to support their families. Check out who is going to the school and what their economic status is before you flame.
