Where: Start at Arik Surplus, 998 Market St. and Kaplan¹s, 1055 Market St., San Francisco, CA March to S.F. City Hall

100 Chinese and Latino immigrant workers, represented by UNITE, sewing Ben Davis workwear in San Francisco need your help and support. They will walk off their job on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 in protest of the company¹s bargaining tactics. They need labor support and turn out. Join the Ben Davis workers at a demonstration at 2 retail establishments and march with them up to the steps of city hall in a show of support.

We will meet at Arik¹s Surplus and then half the group will move up a half block to Kaplan¹s. Ben Davis workers need your support in helping them leaflet to customers entering these stores about their labor dispute.

Ben Davis workers have been in negotiations with the owner since November 2003. The owner has insisted on concessions in health & welfare, vacations, holidays and sick days using the new San Francisco minimum wage as justification. The workers have rejected the company¹s proposals, and now they are being threatened with the plant closing and the work being sent to Mexico, Guatemala or China.
