4/22: 2Good4U tries to Save a Bunny

by Melinda Whitehouse (melinda [at] funnybitches.com)
Local feminist funny group puts together a show to benefit a free women's health clinic.
After months of looking, 2Good4u has finally found a venue for their cabaret benefit for San Francisco's Women's Community Clinic, a no-cost health care clinic run for women by women. The show will take place at Matthew Quinn's up and coming downtown theater, the Off-Market on April 22nd.

2good4u is the an all-girl boy band with a sense of humor, a feminist slant and indie cred. For example, as recent guests on the pirate radio show, the Radical Tea Party, the girls called for women across the country to simultaneously bare their right breasts in solidarity for our bustier-popping sister, Janet. Sadly, Boobs across America never happened. Or, if it did, they were looking at something else and missed it.

In their latest musical revue, "Save the Bunny", the world's first all-girl boy band addresses such universal topics as demeaning jobs, irritating lovers, and omelets. And because 2Good4U is smart enough to know that cheerleader is the new burlesque, there will be cheerleaders. And because it’s always cool to be retro, there will also be a balloon dance. All of 2Good4U's proceeds will go to the Women's Community Clinic.

The show stars the girls of 2good4u, the world's first all-girl boy band: RK Cola (Melinda Whitehouse), a former country star, Dr. Brown (Leslie Dotson) a lab-coated scientist and bartender, Corvette (Eileen Murphy) the showgirl and Pepper Turmeric (Karen Whitehouse) the lesbian. Also featured is Tony Brooke as Mr. Charisma, comedian Mike Spiegelman as Spiegelman and, of course, “The Women’s Health Cheer Squad”: Heather “Smurf” Hawkins, Jody “Muppet” Handley and Jamie “Sex Pot” Pickard.

Off-Market Theater is located at 956 Mission Street at 5th. Save a Bunny starts at 8pm. Visit http://www.cafearts.com or funnybitches.com for more information. Visit http://www.thewomensclinic.org/index.html for more information about the Women's Community Clinic.
