3/18 March to the Mattole info

by moth
March to the Mattole route and convergence with Arcata/Eureka peace events to show solidarity with peace and forest activists against the imperialist timber/petroleum corporations..
some info about march to the Mattole

Mostly on railroad tracks

People along route volunteer food and shelter for most places

Rides available at Eureka Co-op (5th and L) at 8:00 am to bring people to march

Spontaneous gatherings and interactions with people along route encouraged, route is flexible and may change according to desire of participants

Walking, eating and learning can be a fun and unifying experience!!

We also need people to cover the trees (Freshwater, etc) while the march is happening!! Last year the Freshwater extractions were timed while peace activists were in SF protesting war, we need both old growth trees and peace!!

Convergence to remember last year's simultaneous bombing of Iraq and extraction of Freshwater tree sitter activists and old growth logging. The one year anniversary of the same day bombing of Iraq and extraction of treesitters shows the inhuman tactics used by Simpson/MAXXAM/Pacific Lumber and the Bush/Cheney petrochemical war machine that divides the people and forces us to choose between peace and old growth forests. Come join us and tell the corporate imperialists that we want both!!
