Jonathon Meier and Amy Kaplan, members of Steps for Peace (a group sponsored by Kucinich that are walking across the U.S. in order to promote peace and Kucinich), came to Bakersfield on February 15th and 16th. A prayer circle was held at Cesar Chavez's gravesite in Keene, which is near Bakersfield on the 15th. The next day, Amy and Jonathon visited the Liberty Bell and were interviewed by Channel 23 news. Afterwards, being escorted by Peace Bakersfield, they headed towards a local Albertson's to help the strikers there. After about an hour, they proceeded to Cal State Bakersfield to take part in another prayer circle led by David Laughing Horse Robinson. They are now heading towards San Francisco, which is the destination of their cross-nation journey.
