The City of Oakland's much tauted "independent investigation" of the police riot at the Port of Oakland has been abandoned.
Brutality agains citizens continues on a daily basis. Jerry Brown's response to violence in our communities is his mantra "we need more police", in spite of research showing that is not the answer. The city militarizes East Oakland and calls this "Peace".
Meanwhile, activists at the Port of Oakland still have charges against them, deliberation in the Riders trial continues, and activists hurt by cops at the Port of Oakland are suing the City.
This community forum brings together a number of constituencies to talk about strategies to stop police violence and discuss how we can work together.
Join us for discussion, poetry, and refreshments at PUEBLO.
