BUSH ADMITS KNOWING BLACKOUT CAUSE
Bush was quoted on CNBC as blaming the "grid" for the blackout by saying that it "indicates a need for modernization". Others say the cause is still unknown and will take several days to figure out if possible.
As far as I know, Bush doesn't have any knowledge of Power Systems.
He does know some very important people in that business.
Other qualified sources have indicated that the electronic control system may have caused the outage.
Burned parts have not been shown on TV as far as I know.
MODERNIZATION has not been ruled out as a cause.
A SCADA system was mentioned yesterday on the FOX news channel. This would indicate a fairly MODERN control system that would be subject to failure if implemented wrecklessly.
A financial expert tried to say that the Transmission sector is not market driven. BOGUS.
Another expert said their was no incentive to invest in the Transmission sector because of regulations. Like thou shall not steal.
COMING SOON. The ELECTRIC RELIABILITY COUNCIL BLABS ALL.
They got it out already. David Cook, General Council of the North American Electrical Reliability Council explained that the grid is co-owned and is a common carrier that serves industry, the residential community, and the power generators.
He also indicated that the grid in question is a "model" for others. I think he meant that at least the controls were modern.
GOTCHA AGAIN DUBYA.
What about worms, they said. He said there is no indication that it is a factor.
This man indicated that we need to take care of the transmission grid.
To stimulate investment in the industry, I would suggest fixing it and sending a fair portion of the bill to each power generator.
