Wanted War Criminals: George W. Bush and Tony Blair

by THE DISPATCH
A private group of people in Switzerland has filed war crime charges against US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair. The Geneva-based group, calling itself "Solidarity with Victims of the War Against Iraq," said it was representing Iraqi nationals whose family members had been victims of war acts carried out by US and British troops.
Bush, Blair face war crimes action

BERN -- A private group called Solidarity with Victims of the War Against Iraq has filed war crimes charges in Switzerland against US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the public prosecutor's office said on Thursday.

In a submission, the Geneva-based group said it represented Iraqi nationals whose family members had been victims of acts of war during the invasion carried out by US and British troops.

But the prosecutor's department said Bush and Blair would be immune from prosecution while in office, even if they entered Swiss territory.

An attorney said in Belgium on Wednesday charges would be filed against General Tommy Franks, commanding coalition forces in Iraq.

He said the charges would be laid on behalf of 19 Iraqis who, he said, had been victims of war crimes during the action, launched on March 20 to topple Saddam Hussein from power.

In March, seven Iraqi families filed charges in Belgium against Bush's father, former US president George Bush, for alleged offences during the 1991 Gulf war. The charges were also directed at Secretary of State Colin Powell, then chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, Vice-President Dick Cheney, defence secretary in the administration of Bush senior, and General Norman Schwarzkopf, who commanded the US-led operation "Desert Storm" in 1991.

The Swiss public prosecutor's office said it would require further clarification from the Solidarity with Victims of the War Against Iraq which had filed charges against Bush and Blair.

Please post the sites that provide status updates possibly on all lawsuits against the U.S. on the Iraq war including the use of cluster bombs and D.U. weapons.

Now this is the best idea I've heard since the terrorist attack on Iraq by the US and UK.

An illegal attack on a soverign nation should be punished, and Bush and Blair are, indeed, war criminals and should be treated as such.
by Tokyo reader
The only way to negate the charges is for Bush and Blaire to essentially declare that an Iraqi civilian has no human rights. If they are forced to utter their true opinions, it will shed light on the US and UK's fundamentally racist foreign policy. Even if there is no conviction, these charges are a beautiful ray of truth in an otherwise rank series of government lies.

If the preemptive doctrine is not challenged, then we are all complacent fools with little regard for ethics or international law. Of course Bush and Blair have committed a war crime and have indulged in numerous lies along the way. Only the uninformed could support their defiance of the United Nations.

I totally agree with your comments. Now let's hope the rest of the world does, and that the appropriate action is taken - soon!
by precedent is set
The precedent was already set with Saddam Hussein. The "international community" does not give a damn about who kills innocent civilians, and has never lifted a finger to stop war crimes. Why would they start now. Look at the license they gave to Saddam and others (still). The lesson is clear. Do what you want. The world will sit back and do nothing but complain.
by Philosophy Teacher
The US certainly didn't give a damn, as long as Saddam looked out for the interests of US corporations. As long as the dictators do what their puppet masters in Washington want, they can kill all the people they want.

I totally agree that bush and his bed partner should be put on trail as "convicted war criminals".but, I don't think anyone is going to do anything about it.because, he is continuing on with his agenda, calling all the shots as if he doesn't seem to care what the population say. I say, lets go to the" white house" and pull his ass out of thier.and, ship him to iraq and let them deal with him. no,wait!
I have a better idea.lets put his and blairs picture on the infomous 'most wanted cards'.,as the well known,
two "jokers wild". and let the international community deal with them. thank you.

I enjoyed your comments.

I too would love to see the cards picturing bush and blair, two most wanted; however, with respect to bush, there is an election in 2004 is there not?

Unless, of course, in the meantime the international community realizes it is not doing its duty and finally arrests them for the crimes they have committed againt Iraq, not to mention the lies uttered to their own peoples. Shame, shame, shame!
