PLEASE POST Circulate widely! UNIONS RALLY AGAINST EXCESSIVE POLICE FORCE IN OAKLAND Early on the morning of April 7, Oakland police fired upon peaceful protesters and workers at the Port of Oakland. Members of ILWU 10 were standing by, not crossing community picket lines in front of their work entrances because it was a health and safety matter. Nearly without warning, the Oakland Police Department started firing wooden dowels, concussion grenades, and beanbags at everyone there, hitting workers and protesters in the face, neck, and back. An ILWU Local 10 Business Agent was also arrested in the madness. The Mayor says the OPD did the right thing.
