SFPD shoots, kills suspected car thief

Bay City News Wednesday, February 19, 2003

SAN FRANCISCO -- Police say officers shot and killed a suspect in a stolen car on 19th Avenue this afternoon, after the driver attempted to pin an officer between two vehicles.

The incident occurred just after 4 p.m., according to police spokesman Dewayne Tully. He said that along 19th Avenue near Moraga Street, an unmarked police vehicle spotted a silver Honda Civic that was suspected of being stolen and pulled the vehicle over.

But when one of the officers was standing between the police car and the Honda in front of it, the Honda's driver backed up and pinned the officer, according to police.
