direct action against war profiteers
11/18:
About 100 protesters gathered at the Montgomery BART station at 7am 11/18 to protest the US war against the Iraqi people. Several people locked down in front of the main entrance of Chevron-Texaco's headquarters. Other protesters locked down in the back of the building. 10 people were arrested at Chevron-Texaco, with an additional 12 taken into custody afterwards at Diane Feinstein's office. One woman was transferred to the jail, where she will be charged with felony vandalism for throwing "blood" (a mixture of cornstarch, food color and water). According to eyewitness reports it was the police who spilled the "blood" and four of those arrested were legal observers.
"To prevent this war, we will need to take action, not just to voice our opposition but to interfere directly with the operations of war, to interrupt the functioning of the illegitimate government which promotes this war, and to disrupt the corporations in whose interests it is waged." – from the call to action.
