Record breaking voter turn-out lows were recorded across the nation, as voting results came in for various contentious measures around the Bay Area. Some of these include:

• Proposition N Wins: 59% of voters supported this measure to slash city checks to homeless people in San Francisco.
• Proposition FF Wins, 3 Supporting Measures Lose: A proposition to encourage Oakland PD to add 100 more police to the force wins, but is nullified by a lack of funding caused by the loss of three required taxation measures.
• Proposition R Loses: A further push at encouraging gentrification, repealing rent control was voted down in San Francisco.
• Proposition EE Wins: A measure to force landlords to have a "Just Cause" for evictions in Oakland won.

SF officials were surprised by the low turnout--about 190,000 people voted in a city of 730,000, slightly more than 1 in 4 people. Oakland saw a little more than 80,000 voters in a city of 400,000, about 1 in 5. As Mark DiCamillo of the Voter Poll organization said, "Voter awareness [...] in our July survey was extremely low, and it wasn't much better in September."
