funding Mideast terrorism

The continued annual take-away of billions of our tax dollars to fund the Sharon military machine seems crazy. It is difficult to believe that hard working American should have to buy F16s for the Israelis, just so they can intentionally kill Palestinians more effectively.

Yesterday the Israelis killed 16 Palestinians, including nine children between two months and 13 years, while wounding 150 with a single high-tech, one ton bomb. During the past 21 months 1789 Palestinian and 578 Israelis have been killed. As in all modern wars most of those killed have been innocent civilians. Additionally, about 25,000 human beings have been wounded--of that total, 5,000 will likely never walk again.

Israeli lies and propaganda followed this most recent massacre. The Israeli Defense Minister said that “According to information which we had, there were no civilians near him and we express sorrow on the injuries to them.” The inhumane Sharon said “This operation was in my view, one of our biggest successes.”

That any world leaders should make such lies and insensitive statements brings into question their sanity. It also raises questions of the many American politicians who are in the pockets of the AIPAC lobby, and who continue to cheer for a war that is bringing death and shame to participants. It is time to put our tax dollars to better use. Don’t we have enough problems at home?

This latest atrocity by Israeli Jews recalls the 1948 massacre at Deir Yassin where attackers under the command of Menachem Begin, slaughtered over 100 Palestinian children and women in order to send a message of terror and fear to all Arabs. Deir Yassin was bulldozed and renamed, and Jews were then brought in to replace the original natives. In 2002, Sharon (the lead butcher of 2,000 civilians at Sabra and Shatila in 1982) continues his targeting of civilians with messages of terror and fear from American bulldozers and F16s.

it. In fact, the Palestinians support him. Aparently they don't think Kurds are human beings either.

While most Palestinians (and most anti-imperialists, this writer included) support Iraq against U.S. and Israeli imperialism, I've seen no indication of Palestinian support for the oppression of Kurds.

On the other hands, the main oppressors of the Kurds, the rulers of Turkey, are strongly and materially supported by both the United States and Israel. Israel is so tight with Turkey, in fact, that the Zionists have prevented discussion of the Armenian Holocaust at conferences on genocide.

by me
So give me examples of an Arab world media or ruler condemning the genoicide of the Kurds by Iraq. Give me some examples of Palestinian leadership taking a break from accusing Israel of genocide and acknowledging the genocide of the KUrds by Iraq.

The graphic detail of the damage done by the strike really tears at the heart.

The only comment I can make is the fact that this Master Terrorist Salah Shehadeh cowardly hid behind human sheilds, including children. He knew that he would be captured or killed for the hundreds of deaths of innocent men, women and children which he organized. In fact the has evaded 3 attempt in the last 3 years to capture of remove him from the face of the earth. He knew he was the highest Profile target of Israel's war on terrorism.

And what about the beloved Arafat? He is the one who agreed to the transfer of this most dangerous man from an Israeli jail to a his jail and hold him for good. Instead Arafat let him go free with the full knowledge that he would rejoin his terrorist buddies and renew a campaign of mercyless bloodshed. Why did Arafat do this? He could have avoided this recent tragic event.
Oh, the horrors of war.

why did israel bomb that building, killing nine children? why did they do when they knew, they knew that the militant palestinian groups such as hamas (whose very leader they killed in that air strike) were preparing to call a unilateral cease fire? so why did israel do this if it claims it wants peace? oh, the mysteries of war...
by dave
Did somebody say ceasefire? Do you believe that Hamas is ready to drop their weapons? Has Hamas suddenly changed their constitutional mandate which says that all Jews must be eliminated by being driven into the Mediteranian. Have they changed their constitutional mandate that says that Israel does not exist. Have their spiritual leaders suddenly changed their pulpit lectures that say 'Kill all Jews everywhere you find them! Kill the Jews and the Americans everywhere!'

Historically, the only time Islamic terrorist organizations stop their activities is when they are down and need to re-group, re-arm and instruct and train new disciples in their Holy War of Jihad.

Another thing:
It strikes me as odd that people can be so ferociously adamant and vocal about major issues without really understanding the basic underlying history or grasping the reality of the situation. For example:

As soon as Israel signed the Oslo Accords most of it's people were sure real peace was in store for the whole region. What did Arafat and the PLO do to encourage peace once they installed themselves in their leadership role? They disposed of all of the standard issue Egyptian and Jordanian published school textbooks and instead turned to hate filled books that taught children to count guns instead of apples ; taught that all Jews should be killed; taught that Jews had no ancestral relationship or claim to the region(!); taught that Israel did not even exist on a map. For a decade Palestinian children were taught to become terrorists and suicide bombers while the elite of the PLO practiced rampant corruption, fraud, illegal arms purchases and human rights abuses on the very people they were entrusted to protect and provide a viable infrastructure and economy. What happened to the billions dollars ($1.4 billion from the EU alone.) Arafat was given to perform these duties while he had control of 95 percent of the Palestinian areas?

By the way, just another quick fact for anyone who believes that Palestinian terrorism will stop if Israel just leaves the Territories: (Please do your own homework and look this up.) Arafat formed the PLO and started terrorist attacks to exterminate Israel in 1965, that is 2 YEARS BEFORE Israel was forced to occupy the territories in a regional war for it's very survival.

So the old cry of occupation, occupation, occupation is what originally started the PLO and the Palestinian uprisings does not hold much water. Prior to this recent two year terror campaign the Palestinian people as a whole had more work and a much higher standard of living then their brothers in any neighboring country. Plus they had their own government which received billions of dollars from the international community. Poverty and dispare is not the cause of terrorism it is the result.

All that was missing to become an independent state was the signature of Arafat. But he signed the Camp David Accord with the blood of his people and the Israelis. Oh the deal wasn't good enough for him, 95% of the West Bank and Gaza and half of Jerusalem? Then he should have gone back to the negotiating table instead of starting the slaughter.

so what the hell are they doing occupying territory they don't want to occupy? were forced to occupy?

i agree that the history of this conflict is as equally complex as it is important, but like it or not, the palestinians DON'T LIKE BEING OCCUPIED BY ISRAEL IN 2002. i'm not talking about the militants. i'm talking about the people who've spent their lives in refugee camps, and because their country is in complete ruins, cannot find a job.

let's force the israeli right, including sharon, on to a rocket ship. along with them, add all the militant islamic groups who want to fight the very existence of israel. and send them off to the fucking moon where they can kill themselves off. good riddance. they are the problems. they add nothing to anything but hate and violence...

oh well, it's only a dream...
