Whose Independence?! July 4th Teach Out

by Wendy Snyder (allpeepsmedia [at] yahoo.com)
Organizers of the "Take it to the Bridge" Hold July 4th Teach-Out to Kick Off the BUSH DID IT Demonstration for 9-11-02
“Take it to the Bridge to Stop the War” organizers will hold a July 4th “Whose Independence?!” Teach-Out to expose that the U.S. govt. has declared war against the peoples of the world, under the guise of “fighting terrorism.” This “Whose Independence?” Teach-Out will build for a September 11th massive anti-war mobilization.

The All People’s Coalition understands that the July 4th Independence came at the expense of the near extermination of indigenous people and the theft of the land, the enslavement of African people and today the imprisonment of more than two million people, the majority of whom are Indigenous and African. July 4th Independence has come at the expense of giving billions of dollars and weapons to Israel to bomb the Palestinian people out of their ancestral homeland. July 4th Independence has come at the expense of bombing Colombia, the Philippines and Afghanistan for the US control of oil. Whose Independence?

Leader and founder of the Uhuru Movement, Omali Yeshitela will be the featured keynote speaker on the topic of “The War on Terrorism is a War on Oppressed Peoples.” The program will include statements from the Palestinian community, the Mexican community, and the Filipino community. Presenting on “The War on Terrorism and Civil Liberties” will be Ann Fagan Ginger, Professor from Philosophy Department of San Francisco State University and Executive Director of Meiklejohn Civil Liberties Institute.

There will be panels and workshops to build for a September 11th “Bush Did It” Mobilization; Uniting the Anti-war movement through the coalition work; building independent media; and the Role of Direct Action and Civil Disobedience. Participants to include Not In Our Name, San Francisco Independent Media and others.
