LOOKS LIKE MILITARY COUP TO ME!
This whole Bush thing looks like military coup to me.
THis whole Bush family things looks like military coup to me. I may be just a stupid woman, but his father was head of CIA - what's the history of CIA? I think they were stealing our productive money and playing around with it. So now the other Bush says we will have all of these fun guys consolidated into one big computer system, playing with all of us, with our hard-earned money (70% of it they take now). So the IRS and FBI and FEMA and CIA and NSA and all those fun, loving, peaceful, Buddist type guys are running around playing like they are still in first grade, killing birds and squirrels and all the macho stuff boys like to do - so much fun! So we have these guys playing around with us, full time, in cone central place, all with our money! It's quite a plan! They can't milk a cow or mine some coal - no they are running around like a bucnh of morons (who do you think hires them, after all). And the schools make sure there are a lot of morons out there, teaching the kids to love government and be stupid. The teachers are hired because they are too stupid to think critically. The doctors don't know about cures for cancer (they are smart but have their mafia controlling them and too compartimentalized and don't have time to read alternative - playing golf). And the media bootlicking and also stupid from government schools. The churches teach to not think. Harry Potter teaches us not to think, that magic will work (just what Hitler taught, the end of the Age of Reason) and look at that mess, repeating itself! Why do they repeat themselves - this mess - government schools, teachcing you to love government and groupthink and politically correct and not to think for yourself and to kiss the boots of government. And the kids are going nuts, cause they can still see. So give them some Ritalin.

zooloo -- do uo you think this is a realistic assessment of reality?
not many people think critically about what is happening around them these days. Also, as the Orwellian "Big Brother" sez, "Ignorance is Strength". And <a href=http://www.fas.org/sgp/news/secrecy/2001/10/101701.html">who is strengthened, by keeping others ignorant?
So, more gov't secrecy, and more surveillance, more intrusions, and more of other privacy violations by the gov't and corporate employers. "What are you reading?" ; "What websites do you visit?" ; "What purchases have you made?" ; "Whats on your computer?" ; "We need a urine sample" ; "we need your DNA" ; "here, take this little chip under your skin, it will help us protect you" ; and so and so on...

But anyway, and on the other hand, to touch on something else: Harry Potter type stories seem ok, IMO. Besides encouraging younger people to read, which is a good thing, most people recognize that it is just fantasy, just entertainment. and perhaps such tales are a needed diversion from reality for people of all ages...
"No live organism can continue for long to exist under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream. Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within..."
