Ramallah May 31st 2002 Wafa; President Yasser Arafat received yesterday the German Foreign Minister Mr. Joschka Fischer in the presidential HQ in Ramallah.
: “We support peace and the establishment
of the Palestinian state alongside Israel”
H.E. said that he highly evaluates this visit at this politically critical time, and that they have discussed the finest details of the current situation.
In the joint press conference President Arafat said that peace essential to both sides and is of an interest to the Middle East and the whole world.
H.E. reiterated his emphasis to the Palestinian commitment to the strategic peace choice, to enable both peoples to live in security and stability, by ending the occupation including the sieges, curfews and blockades.
President Arafat said that this visit is considered as an important move to internationally promote the peace interest in the region.
Mr. Fischer said that the situation is very complicated and needs a lot of patience; we must all join our efforts to open the door for the negotiations to achieve peace that serves the interest of the Palestinians and the Israelis alongside with the other peoples of the region.

Earlier yesterday Mr. Fischer was hosted by Mr. Ahmad Qrea the Palestinian speaker of the house, where he briefed his guest with the latest developments on the Palestinian arena and explained the difficult Palestinian situation due to the Israeli continuous aggression.
