Impressions of 4/5 SF Demo at Israeli Consulate
On April 5, 2002, hundreds of filthy rich parasites, mostly over age 60, turned out to support Israel at lunchtime in the Financial District of San Francisco, in front of the building that houses the Israeli consulate, among many other offices. These people are definitely not the downtrodden who live in workingclass neighborhoods; they are the the landlords and the business people in the Financial District.
On April 5, 2002, some hundreds of filthy rich parasites, mostly over age 60, turned out to support Israel at lunchtime in the Financial District of San Francisco, in front of the building that houses the Israeli consulate, among many other offices. These people are definitely not the downtrodden who live in workingclass neighborhoods; they are the landlords and the business people in the Financial District.
Meanwhile, a couple Palestinians and many workers in the Financial District were watching these Israeli and American flag wavers stand around with all the time in the world that parasites always have. Some Zionists were under age 60, and they too seemed to have all the time in the world. I pointed out to my fellow workers who, unlike this writer, were not Jewish, but like this writer, were workers and most likely tenants, that Israel exists courtesy US taxpayers and murders Arabs with US tax dollars so as to protect US oil interests from nationalization. They understood that and sympathized with the Palestinians. I told them that to stop this massacre occurring in Palestine with our tax dollars they must never vote for the Democrats or Republicans as they all support Israel. That was something new for the workingclass, and it is time it be heard.
The Zionists had signs complaining about suicide bombings as if those acts, some of which were certainly by agent provocateurs, caused the current attempt to murder the Palestinians of the West Bank, all 1 million of whom are now under 24-hour curfew for over a week, hundreds of thousands without water and electricity and soon without food and medicine, and all in danger of dying from epidemics. The current invasion was long-planned, as described by the World Socialist Website editorial, "Chronology of a pogrom: How Sharon, US prepared assault on Palestinians", April 4, 2002, at:

This writer did not stay for the arrival of the hundreds of Palestinians and their Jewish and non-Jewish supporters as this writer had to go back to work.
This is the first time in this writer's memory, which goes back 4 decades, that the Zionists turned out to support the US puppet-Israeli consulate in San Francisco, which has been located in a wide variety of places, not all in the Financial District. It would be better for all concerned if this Israeli consulate would simply close. If it wishes to stay in the Bay Area, it could move to where a large percentage of its supporters live, such as Walnut Creek.
The fact that these parasites turn out at all means that the American empire is finally crumbling, along with its puppet states such as Israel, and this is the last gasp of a dying social order, which all these rich old codgers represent, along with their somewhat younger friends and relatives. Both the Israeli and American economies are sinking to the bottom of the deep blue sea of history. Contrary to bourgeois thinking, there is nothing to discuss with these parasites. The 54-year occupation by Israel of Palestine is now finally coming to an end. The US cannot afford to prop up Israel to the tune of $4 billion annually above the table and $4 billion annually below the table to protect US oil profits.
As to future demonstrations for Palestine, I suggest they stay or go to the workingclass neighborhoods of San Francisco, where they are always welcome, and where they always receive lots of support as the entire workingclass is oppressed by definition in a capitalist society, and thus we sympathize with all oppressed people. The Financial District is a cesspool and parasitic and will not exist in a socialist society.
The Zionists are quick to shake the Holocaust stick to win sympathize for their murder and torture of Palestinians and theft of Palestinian land but have no historical basis for doing so. The Zionists collaborated with the Nazis to break the boycott of Nazi goods in order to promote the Transfer Agreement, which was to save their own skins. As to democracy, a theocratic state, that is a state where there is no division between church and state, which is Israel, cannot be a democracy by definition, not even a bourgeois democracy. Of course, so long as there is economic inequality, there is no democracy, so a capitalist society by definition is never democratic.
The arrogance of the Zionists is based on their exploitation of the workingclass, making the rich richer and the rest of us poorer. This arrogance is a sign that labor is very weak and must fight back. The growing movement for the Palestinians is a good sign of a fightback, but we need much more. We need to organize labor right here at home on the job and off the job for higher wages and money from the progressive income tax, also known as tax the rich, for housing, medical care, schools, public transportation and social services.
It is that labor movement that will bring about a socialist society in Palestine, which is the only guarantee of peace in the Middle East.

its one thing to say that israel should end the occupation and stuff, its another to make israel sound like its pure evil and the palestiniens are these great wonderful people. because thats far from the truth.
My mother which instilled in me my left-ist attitudes, just told me today that she's indifferent about the latest events as the Palestinians 'asked for it' in a way.
If my own mom who is the walking definition of working-class citizen (graduated college at 40, while raising 2 kids, by herself) -- if even she can be persuaded so easily by what's one-sidely reported in the press, then so can any other american, whether they be rich old california codgers, or lower-middle class working citizens on the other side of the coast.
The problem is simply the apathy and complacency of ordinary citizens around the world, who simply wish not to take ownership of any policies, or anything else outside of their own little world.
I don't think the problem is even the media -- people around the world generally understand they're being fed a horse-load of shit in the news day in and dayout. The problem is that people accept it. Until they don't.
