Human Safari? Come to Israel! (cartoon by Latuff)

Why never any funny cartoons about jewish children dying in pizza parlors? Do they deserve to be blown to bits at Sbarro's in Jerusalem? Is that fair punishment for being born into *zionism*?

Why no funny funny pictures of Yasir Arafat, he who has ordered dozens of civilian attacks, or maybe that wacky leader of Hamas?

Why are American Jews so interested in maintaining an openly religious, militarized, capitalist state? Why do they demand, as they should, separation of church and state in the US yet support a viciously reactionary theocratic state in Israel? Why do they support a state, namely Israel, which receives $4 billion annually above the table and $4 billion annually below the table from US taxpayers to protect oil company profits from a workingclass socialist revolution of Arab and Jewish workers of the Middle East? It appears it has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with supporting capitalism, which is the problem. In fact, educated people, which most American Jews are, are not religious since superstitution, which religion is, is antithetical to religion. Thus, the theft of Palestinian land, the destruction of Palestinian homes and orchards, and the torture and murder of the Palestinian people is supported by these promoters of capitalism, some of whom happen to be Jewish.

Before World War 2, the Jewish community of the United States was primarily a progressive, pro-socialist workingclass community. Since World War 2, the United States has been the center of the world's Jewish community (there are more Jews in the state of New York than in the state of Israel), and like most of the rest of white America, the Jewish community is no longer majority workingclass, and thus no longer progressive nor pro-socialist. Again, it is class and class outlook that is the issue, not religion.

Those of us from Holocaust families who know the history of the collaboration of the Zionists with the Nazis would appreciate it if the Zionists, which is the official ideology of the official, religious Jewish community of the United States, would stop pretending they care about Jews, which they do not, and openly state they care about preserving capitalism, which they certainly do.

The quality of life for the Jewish and Arab workingclass of Israel is declining as the worldwide economic crisis deepens. It is this economic crisis that is the base for the increased opposition to the old capitalist ideology of Zionism. It is capitalism that contains the seeds of its own destruction. The world looks forward to a united workingclass of Israel, for it is that class that will end this outrage known as the Zionist government of Israel, and establish a socialist, secular state in Palestine.

I have not seen any cartoons by anyone that makes fun of dead Israeli children. Why should Latuff do so. He deplores all killing of children, and he is trying to stop the killing af innocent children by getting at the root cause of all terrorism in the Middle East.

Many newsparpers use to give an up-to-date count of all killing in this conflict. Because of pressure from American Jews that practice has been halted in the pro-Israeli maintream media.

Jews do not like to see the death count. For the record, the latest count is 885 Palestinians and 275 Israelis killed. That figure does not count the many Palestinian children who have died by sickness and by difficulties of going to hospitals, because of the inhumane Israeli occupation.

My friend, I don't believe that Latuff is trying to be funny. There is nothing funny about his work. Equally, there would be nothing funny about a cartoon of dead Israeli children. It is all disgusting. I believe that is the point Latuff is trying to get across. He may just be one of those humans who can't help but worry about the under dog. I know that gets in my way once in awhile.

Its a tough picture. For my taste it goes to far, but the de facto reality is that Palestinians sometimes are slandered down like animals.
