by torturewatch
A detainee from Afghanistan is carried on a stretcher after being interrogated by military officials at Camp X-Ray at the U.S. Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002. There are currently 158 al-Qaida and Taliban prisoners being held at Camp X-Ray. (AP Photo/Lynne Sladky)

U.S. Finishes Camp X - Ray, Awaits More
Prisoners

They said at least one prisoner had to be carried but didn't say why.

Anyone who has spent time in Maximum Security
by way of a Red Line Brig or Military Stockade know's that sleep deprivation, physical exaustion, screaming & yelling session's until the prisoner is hoarse in the throat is the name of the game for U.S. Military Personel who become Prisoner's for violation of the U.C.M.J..

Prisoner's of war? Imagine hell on earth run by
violent dedicated ruthless unthinking Jar Head's trained to follow order's.....ZOMBIES

I'm not sure if the person pictured is a trainee or not, but it's been widely reported that in the last group of people flown to Cuba - there were quite a few that had gunshot wounds.

Of course - there hasn't been a peep on IMC about the fact that the Red Cross has had access to the detainees, and yet there hasn't been a single report of them saying that the prisoners were 'tortured', etc.

So which is it, are you stupid, venal, or both?

When is the Red Cross going to North Korean camps?
When are they going to inspect Zimbabwe?

Never. Because the United States is the ONLY country that would allow outside audit of it facilities. The Red Cross found nothing wrong.

So, once again, indymedia is engaged in speculation and derision.

So we can assume that you will alter your position if it comes to light that detainees are in fact being tortured Pat?
No, you'll just continue your patriotic prevarications. In other words, Pat, I'm accusing you of intellectual dishonesty. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, jackass.

If he is what you say, he wants to kill you. If you people cannot not see beyond your cynacism we will all lose. Wake up and smell the coffee. This is a real war, and wheather you like it or not, these people you feel sorry for want to kill all of us. They are being treated well, as independently reported. And as far as you anti-government types go, hello this is your government to.please educate yourself.

Hey, the Red Cross didn't find a thing wrong at my establishment back in '44.

All it takes is a proper "Embellishment".

Sorry slick...saying that this "person" is coming back from a session of torture is obsurd on its face.

Can I offer a HEADLINE?

Al Queda detainee being excorted back from a particluarly violent bowel movement, story to follow:

"Well my country hasn't been able to feed its people for many years now. The leaders of our country have decideded that instead of feeding its women and children, we'll arm our "men" and teach them to KILL women and children abroad. Praise be to ALLAH!
We've been starving for so many years now that when we do get food on a regular basis, our systems can't handle it, hence the explosive BM.
If we play our cards right, I'm sure we can convince the UNINFORMED, we're being tortured."

Menu for Dinner Two Saturdays Ago:

White Beans

Asst. Vegetables
Lamb imported from florida.

wow, sure beats the rations that US troops are given.

interesting "torture camp" where the number of medical personnel outnumber the detainees as well.

as for the stretcher picture: they are being put unto stretchers b/c the likelihood of them lashing out in aggression is far less then if they were simply shackled and told to walk on their own. this isn't a difficult concept to grasp

The US military has readily admitted using tactics such as sleep deprivation, holding people immobile for extended periods of time, witholding medical treatment, and witholding food and water as interrogation techniques. I cannot believe the blindness and insensitivity of many of the other posters here. You do not believe your government when they openly admit to doing things? Sleep deprivation is widely known to cause serious psychological breakdowns and leave lasting damage in peoples minds. Holding people immobile, standing up in such positions that it is impossible to sleep in is plain and simple CRUCIFIXION with all of the pain, but just short of death. Imagine your brother or sister, mother, father or child held this way without sustenance and without sleep, jabbering away insensibly after losing their mind, and with this image in your head, can you honestly say that sleep deprivation is not torture????
