ELF Strikes BioTech Lab The Earth Liberation Front (ELF) has officially
claimed responsibility for sabotaging the University
of Idaho biotechnology building in opposition to
genetic engineering on June 10, 2001. The University of
Idaho, in partnership with Monsanto's Naturemark,
genetically modifies potatoes to be resistant to
various viruses and pests. On June 1, the ELF claimed
responsibility for a fire set at the University of
Washington's Center for Urban Horticulture in Seattle.
Check out the Seattle IMC for details and opinions,
including those of ELF supporters, and those of
dissenters who claim actions like this are
counterproductive.
