People Over Patents
More than one hundred demonstrators gathered at the Bayer factory in Berkeley to protest against the three dozen pharmaceutical corporations that are suing the South African Government for patent infringement. Debbie Baron, "spent a year living in South Africa working with orphans and children with AIDS." For her, "it was a lot to witness, know ing that there's no funding going to those kids. It's a shame that American companies are selling these drugs for seventy times more than generic drugs cost. That's just flat out murder -- and it has to stop."
