Put People Over Profit

by David Hanks/Global Exchange (david [at] globalexchange.org)
Barbara Lubin joined over one hundred demonstrators at the Bayer plant in Berkeley on the international day of protest against the three dozen pharmaceutical companies that are suing the South African Government for patent infringement. Lubin is, "enraged that in a world which has so much money, people in Africa are denied access to good healthcare and are dying from AIDS." The corporations are trying to prevent low-cost, generic drugs from being distributed to people who cannot afford to pay full price.
