Renegade Gardeners!
http://www.indybay.org/news/2006/05/1822883.php

This is a list of links to instructions on how to grow fruit trees from the seeds of their fruits, as you find in the grocery stores. Share as you will. If people know how to do these things then they will do them. YOU CAN PLANT TREES ANYWHERE. NOT JUST YOUR OWN YARD. Imagine a whole country filled with fruit trees! There is a vacant lot near your house. Find it, and plant! There is an empty stretch near the road, plant! If your favorite plant isn't on the list, then look it up on the internet. And, then, plant! =)

But talk to gardeners and farmers first. Many store bought fruits do not create tasty fruit trees.

For environmentalists, a growing split over immigration, CSM, . 20060512
Any so-called enviromental group that skirts the critical issue of OVERPOPULATION and that alleges to care about the ultimate future of our planet's biosphere, should be exposed as hypocritical and unworthy of pretending to care about the environment.   If 6 billion humans cut consumption by 50% and then breed like rodents to 18 billion then the actual consumption will increase 300%, thus spelling the ultimate doom of not only the human species but perhaps 90% or more of all other species of life on the planet.

Motion Filed to Intervene in AT&T Secrets Case
Why is the radio and TV news media  ignoring this law suit?  They are announcing  that the suit just  filed against Verizon  was the first  one filed in this issue when the suit against AT&T was filed in February-they haven't even MENTIONED it.  If the court rules in favor of the U.S. government (which I'm sure it will) I hope this case winds up before the federal supreme court. # National Flavors Day Thu May 18 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm FREE

Thursday May 18th is National Flavors Day.

Sun and fun seekers across the country are looking to free themselves
from the daily grind, to step out of the office and into the
liberating, mischevious vibe of summer. They will uncover the flavor
of Summer '06 as they uncover themselves.

Hundreds - clad only in bathing suits - painted from head to toe in
blue, green, and orange will brighten San Francisco as they transform
Fisherman's Wharf into a sea of color and take part in the city's
annual Bike to Work Day. The painted revelers will mingle with locals
during the busy evening commute in Union Square, at Fisherman's
Wharf, Pier 39, and Castro & Market.

If you're lucky, maybe you can join in on the fun and get painted
yourself. But, even if you choose to keep your clothes on, National
Flavors Day should be quite a spectacle, unlike anything the city has
seen before, and just the thing to get us all psyched for summer.

# SF Google Free WiFi City Hearing - Privacy and Digital Div.

Friday, May 19th 1:00pm - 3:00pm free

The main topics will be Privacy and Digital Inclusion, but you can
speak about anything regarding the WiFi initiative

Privacy - includes library-like privacy for people who are
undocumented migrant workers, those without credit cards (required
for usage), members of unpopular political groups.

Digital Inclusion - includes training and computers for those who
need it, coverage that meets the RFP requirements of 95% outdoor /
90% indoor and at real-world bandwidth speeds (not something slightly
over dial-up currently offered).

Agenda is here:
http://www.sfgov.org/site/lafco_page.asp?id=38962

If you cannot attend in person - you may watch cable channel (26 or
78) or live video streaming at
http://sfgov.org/site/sfgtv_index.asp?id=11463 (select SFGTV or SFGTV2)

There will be an IRC online chatroom setup at:

ernesto.indymedia.org
chatroom #techconnect

you can use the chat client here:
http://chat.indymedia.org/

ACLU, EFF and EPIC have sent four letters to San Francisco -
advocating for Municipal WiFi with privacy protections - I believe
that they have received no response from the city and it appears that
the RFP and other aspects of the TechConnect initiative have largely
not addressed the issues they have persistently raised.

# No Walls No Laws Sunday, May 21 all day free
basically it is a spread the word event- any artist is invited to bring stuff to the panhandle at Staynan street and set it up, hang out for as long as they want and then take it down- There are no restrictions, no fees, no reason not to come and hang out and see a variety of cool art- (the artists should keep in mind that there are no walls so they will need to think about how they are going to set up their work) WHy should artists need a gallery to show there work to the public....artists are sensitive beings and what they express can be important....i don't think art should be regulated by the galleries- so lets have a show

# Please pass on to your community
Please Join the California Nurses Association…..
Protest Dick Cheney’s Corruption of Our Political Process
And Rally for CNA’s November, 2006 statewide ballot initiative for Clean Money Elections in California.
Monday, May 22 11:00 AM Sacramento Hyatt—1209 J St.

Cheney will be in Sacramento raising money for Congressman John Doolittle—who is caught up in the “Jack Abramoff” scandal. Doolittle accepted skyboxes at sporting events from Abramoff, failed to report them, and did favors for Abramoff’s casino and other clients. Doolittle’s wife Julie receives a 15% commission on his fundraising, and Doolittle’s Congressional Chief of Staff Rich Robinson moonlights on his campaign. With Abramoff in custody, Cheney is now lending a hand to Doolittle, and helping his corporate friends buy a little more influence.

*Could there be any better argument for the California Nurses Association’s upcoming Clean Money Elections initiative? Californians are tired of the corruption and the cash register politics. Clean Money Elections, also known as public financing of campaigns, allow candidates to run for office without taking huge donations from lobbyists and corporations—and without owing them favors.*
*Isn’t it time we cleaned up our political system?*
*Come join the nurses and tell Dick Cheney we’ve had enough!*

Wed May 24 7:30 pm $5 donations accepted

ELECTILE DYSFUNCTION: TAKE BACK YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE
Presented by Gypsy

This film explores the reasons why elections have spiraled into their
current disastrous state and what you can do to reclaim your vote and
to promote changes to rid our country of vote fraud. See what parts
the media, corporations, judges, and the political parties play in
the election game and actions you can take to encourage these folks
to work in the interests of the American people and democracy instead
of self-interest, corruption, and greed. The film ends with a plea
for our lawmakers to create a Constitutional Amendment guaranteeing
the right to vote for every citizen, guaranteeing that their Vote be
COUNTED, and for those that would defraud any voter be held legally
accountable. You can help. http://www.electiledysfunctionmovie.com

# The End of Suburbia Thu May 25 7:00pm-9:30pm Free.

THE END OF SUBURBIA: Oil Depletion and the Collapse of the American
Dream.

Viewers say it best--

"This information is quite shocking. I think many people who thought
they had sufficient information concerning the energy crisis will be
left in a rethinking mode". - Jim, California

"The End of Suburbia is a perfect tool for introducing people to peak
oil. Just enough humor to sugarcoat the bitter pill". - Jason,
California

"...it's one of the most important docs in recent years". - Anthony
Lappe, Guerrilla News Network.

SYNOPSIS: Since World War II, North Americans have invested much of
their newfound wealth in suburbia. It has promised a sense of space,
affordability, family life and upward mobility. As the population of
suburban sprawl has exploded in the past 50 years, so too has the
suburban way of life become embedded in the American consciousness.

Suburbia, and all it promises, has become the American Dream.

But as we enter the 21st century, serious questions are beginning to
emerge about the sustainability of this way of life. The End of
Suburbia explores the American Way of Life and its prospects as the
planet approaches a critical era, as global demand for fossil fuels
begins to outstrip supply. World Oil Peak and the inevitable decline
of fossil fuels are upon us now.

What does Oil Peak mean for North America? As energy prices skyrocket
in the coming years, how will the populations of suburbia react to
the collapse of their dream? And what can be done NOW, individually
and collectively, to avoid The End of Suburbia ?

Commencing at 7:00pm for socializing at Varnish's beer/wine/sake bar,
gallery viewing, then film.

Maybe we can encourage the people who block cross traffic to:
wait until the mass arives at that intersection, so as to offend as few drivers as possible.
Definitely hold up / wait before blocking major intersections. BECAUSE
It would be nice to be visible to as many pedestrians and motorists as possible while
offending/ delaying as few motorists as possible.

in on the natural heat of spring time. Don't miss your opportunity to be
part of this incredible annual cycle of renewal and rebirth. FP is
partnering with the Rhythm Society venture capitalists and invoking the

the Easy Bay hills. Mark your calendar for May 27 (that's Saturday on
Memorial Day weekend), because this is one event you can't afford to miss!

EARTHLINGS

Presented by Christine Morrissey
East Bay Animal Advocates

Using hidden cameras and never-before-seen footage, this documentary
film chronicles day-to-day practices of the largest industries in the

animal cruelty that occurs every day and it shows what our human
thirst for cheaper and cheaper products and more and more money does
to human beings every day.

Before and after the film, everyone's invited to indulge in our
