Masturbaphobia rules at "Bad Porn Night" ?

To the SF Bay Times:


The San Francisco Bay Times calendar announces,
for 17 May 2006:

"BAD PORN NIGHT - Catch the nasty classix
every third Wednesday of the month at the
Dark Room Theatre at an evening hosted by
a few rowdy pornologists. Hoot, holler, k'vetch
or offer up your own smutty musings to the
audience. The lovely folks at the Dark Room
request that masturbating not happen in the
theatre but maybe they just don't realize how
beautiful of a thing it could really be. $5, 8pm

SUN agrees with the SFBT calendar editor
that public masturbation could be "beautiful"
-- if attendance be limited to adults (18 and up).

May is Masturbation Month,
with "masturbate-a-thons" being held in SF and Portland.
But not at the Dark Room Theatre,
where "masturbaphobia" still rules.

We mustn't just ASSUME that the "Bad Porn Night" (BPN) organizers
are themselves masturbaphobic. Nor should we make this assumption about
the staff of Dark Room Theatre (DRT).

It's possible that BPN and DRT personnel are imposing this rule
because cops secretly told them to do so.

In other words, they may be bottoming (submitting) to masturbaphobic attitudes,
policies, and laws of the State of California, and/or the city-county of San Francisco,
and/or the SF Police Department, which perpetuate repressive 19th-century sectarian
"Christian" views of human sexuality.


So, even at a San Francisco porn screening in 2006,
Queen Victoria wins,
and freedom loses.
