is proud to announce the beginning of its Spring 2006 Lecture series!

WEEK TWO: Monday, April 24rd:
--> Vandana Shiva: Dr. Vandana Shiva is a physicist, ecologist, activist, editor, and author. In India she has established Navdanya, a movement for biodiversity conservation and farmers' rights. She directs the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Natural Resource Policy. She is author of numerous books and articles, including: Water Wars: Pollution, Profits and Privatization; Earth Democracy : Justice, Sustainability, and Peace; Monocultures of the Mind : Perspectives on Biodiversity and Biotechnology, and many others ! WEEK THREE: Monday, May 1st:
--> Andres Edward: Author of: The Sustainability Revolution: Portrait of a Paradigm Shift (New Society 2005) (see http://www.sustainabilityrevolution.com/ )
--> Joshua Abraham: "Green Jobs Not Jails" Director of the Reclaim the Future (RTF) initiative at the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights. The project aims to bring solutions to our communities by combining the movements of restorative justice, economic and environmental justice. (see: http://www.ellabakercenter.org )

Getting to UCSC/Classroom Unit 2:
Always an adventure!
Directions: see http://www.ucsc.edu/about/directions.asp
- Map to Classroom Unit: http://maps.ucsc.edu/cmclassroomunit.html
Transportation: If possible, Carpool or take the Bus.
- Parking: Get a "N" permit ($2) at the parking kiosk at main entrance/base of campus. Park in the Hahn lot, walk to Classroom Unit 2.
What to do if you don't know your way: Stop by the parking kiosk! They are great about giving clear directions and letting you know exactly where it is safe to park!
Accessibility: The classroom unit is wheel chair accessible. Please contact us (tawn.kennedy [at] gmail.com) if you have any questions/ need accommodation.
