WHO warns army may be needed to fight bird flu 13 Jan 2006 The World Health Organisation yesterday predicted authorities might need to use the army and police to quarantine about 120,000 people to contain an initial pandemic flu outbreak of just 19 cases. [If you think the illegal NSA spying was a breach of civil liberties, wait until the bird flu pandemic arrives at the Bush dictatorship's doorstep.]

"This government is not only more criminal and corrupt than we imagine-
it is more criminal and illicit than we can imagine. Bush and company
make the mafia look like boy scouts.. The collection of thugs and criminals
now running the country are the greatest and most dangerous organized
crime syndicate in the world. . . And they possess the greatest arsenal
of weapons, many of them nuclear, that the world has ever seen.
They have an unparalleled propensity for violence.
They are not who you think they are;
and they are not doing what you think they are doing."

Vaccinations lead to mental stupidy; distruction of the immune system, - home schooling leading to college is just stupid.  If you cannot see it then you need to study more.  Higher the education the more we are controlled and the more we lack common sense.

Like using your floride toothpaste and eating the stuff this system calls 'food'  ---either you understand or you do not. Our forefather freemasons could speak in many languages and they gave us slavery to a stupid corporate beast -- called the New World Order.  Doesn't take a genius to see the symbols used from the beginning.  Or maybe it does.

So much for EDucation. Debt is not the only problem.  USURY is the sin.  Banking is slavery.  Using a SS number is continued agreement with the system.  So.

Yah, I will yell about many things in this slave camp.  I really understand suicide.  Sorry I got you upset.  -Joeseph

Myspace.com / Murdoch space (bought by fox)

Tom (Myspace's founder) claims he still has complete control over the site and says he will not delete profiles or groups that are not obscene or harassing others.

Myspace has always been owned by an internet market research firm called Intermix Media, which always had ownership interest by Fox / Rupert Murdoch, until Fox bought the rest of it. Myspace is basically a marketing database used to track trends among "the youth demographic". The site itself does not make a profit on banner ads. The real money is the marketing database. Hence, the $500 million price tag.

"Tom" is a bit of a myth. He's a real person, but he's not the sole founder. Tom's account has been used as a role account, with automated messages and replies from customer service coming from his account to give the site a friendlier feel. (As yourself, how can one person respond to the customer service needs of a user base of 40 million people? It's impossible.)

Considering the strong ties between Fox and the Republican party, and the recent crackdown on free speech and activism (by prosecuting it as "terrorism"), I would strongly urge all activists to avoid Myspace at all costs. There are plenty of other free services out there that don't have direct ties with the political party that wants you in jail for exercising your right to political activism. Myspace / Fox will not hesitate to hand over your posts to law enforcement. Even if it hasn't happened "yet", are you willing to take that chance?

Find a different free service, or build your own, or find a friend who knows how.

Call me alarmist, but I personally think any activist who uses Myspace is asking for trouble. Keep your Myspace account for showing off your new hair or photos of your cat. Use something else for planning protests and direct action.

# Control Room at Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In Friday 13 Jan 8:00 PM Free!

We have a new GDI Winter home finally at the new Bike Church location
on Pacific across from the Saturn Cafe parking lot. Yay, for the
Bike Church. Come and check out their new space at this Friday's movie.

Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In Presents CONTROL ROOM

A glimpse into the controversial and often dangerous operations of
the 7-year-old Arab-language Al Jazeera news network, offers us a
fierce yet often surprisingly friendly debate about the clashing ways
in which the U.S. invasion and takeover of Iraq have been portrayed
by American and Arab journalists. At once a clear-eyed document of
the war, an inquiry into the way events become filtered into news,
and a complex, surprising portrait of the personalities behind the
scenes.Unlike most American media outlets, al-Jazeera is the one news
service the Pentagon hasn't been able to "manage." Hosted by D-Fresh
& Rico.

PLUS recent news on the media war in the middle east, thrilling and
funny short films, an intermission, great company, and a rollicking
bike ride after the movie.

Friday January 13th, 8:00pm
at the Bike Church, 703 Pacific Ave, south of Laurel, Santa Cruz

BRING blankets, pillows, jammies, friends, wine, & food to share for
intermission. Bring your bike for the Midnight Mystery Ride after the
movie. Donations are greatly appreciated and directly support the
project and the Revolutionary Garden Society who sponsors Guerilla
Drive-In.

MIDNIGHT MYSTERY RIDE: After the movies, the Santa Cruz Midnight
Mystery Ride will take you and your friends on a rollicking after-
hours tour of the bike ways and back streets of our fair city. Where
are we going? It's a mystery!

SANTA CRUZ GUERILLA DRIVE-IN is an outdoor movie theatre under the
stars that springs up in the fields and industrial wastelands.
Beyond showing great movies and bringing a broad community together,
part of our mission is helping reclaim public space and transforming
our urban environment into the joyful playground it should be.

Protest Against Rep. Nancy Pelosi's Continuous Funding of the War in Iraq
Saturday, January 14, 2006 9:30am
Marina Middle School Auditorium
3500 Fillmore Street (between Bay and Chestnut)
San Francisco, CA

Stand with us as we say, "Nancy, Stop Funding War!"

Nancy Pelosi will hold a Town Hall meeting the morning of Saturday January 14th to discuss National Security, meanwhile we'll be outside protesting her continuous support for a military war chest.

While she has personally supported Rep. John Murtha's call for withdrawal from the ground war, she explicitly refuses to use her power as house minority leader to move the Democratic Party Caucus towards supporting even Murtha's resolution; she will not support HR 4232, the bill introduced by Representative James McGovern, to prohibit the use of funds to deploy United States Armed Forces to Iraq.

Nancy Pelosi consistently votes to spend billions of dollars per year on the war in Iraq while vital public services are being cut at home!

* Nancy's record:
1) June 2002: Pelosi voted YES on HR 5010 - Vote to adopt a conference report on a bill that would provide $355.1 billion in appropriations for the Defense Department for fiscal year 2003, an increase of $37.5 billion from 2002.
Highlights: $71.6 billion for procurement of aircraft, missiles, weapons, combat vehicles and shipbuilding - $114.8 billion
for armed forces operations and maintenance - $7.4 billion for ballistic missile defense

2) June 2004: Pelosi voted YES on HR 4613 - Vote to adopt a Conference Report that would provide appropriate $417.8 billion for the Department of Defense for the fiscal year 2005, and for other purposes.
Highlights: $25 billion for emergency defense spending for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, $120.6 billion for military operations and equipment maintenance, $77.4 billion for the procurement of new weapons

3) March 2005: Pelosi voted YES on HR 1268 - $81.4 billion emergency supplemental appropriations for Defense Department, war on terrorism, tsunami relief and other programs for fiscal year 2005.
Highlights: $18.32 billion for procurement of aircraft, combat vehicles, missiles, weapons, and ammunition

4) June 2005: Pelosi voted YES on HR 2863 - A vote to pass a bill that appropriates $399 billion for defense spending in FY2006.
Highlights: $116.09 billion for operation and maintenance, including $7.63 billion for ballistic missile defense

5) December 19, 2005: Pelosi voted YES on HR 1815 - Making appropriations for the Department of Defense for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2006, and for other purposes.
Highlights: Authorizes appropriations for FY2006 for the Army, Navy and Marine Corps, and Air Force for aircraft, missiles, weapons and tracked combat vehicles, ammunition, shipbuilding and conversion, and other procurement

Let us know that you'll stand with us as we say, "Nancy, Stop Funding War!"

# The next potluck will be Saturday evening, January 14th, 6 to 9 pm.

Please join us in kicking off the new year, and bring a friend with you who may be struggling on the raw food path. Everyone will walk away with something that can be immediately put to practical use in improving their vitality.

Our speaker will be: Hugh Cruickshank
Topic: Making the Raw Food Diet Work For YOU!

There is more than just "eating raw foods" to achieve optimum health. There are many subtle nuances and easy tips to greatly improve your results on the raw food diet. Most of these are simple and easily integrated into your lifestyle and diet.

Hugh Cruickshank has been a health inthusiast for more than 30 years. He has worked as a wellness consultant, health coach, and health educator teaching classes on natural health and lifestyle. He has presented leading edge health information to physicians and medical staff at offices and hospitals throughout the Northwest and here in Marin County.

Hugh's knowledge on health is drawn from years of courses, lectures, seminars, tapes, books, and his continuous search for greater health for mankind. Perhaps most important is his own personal experience on the path to achieving optimal health.

Cost: A $4 donation (this covers the monthly rent on the meeting space) and bring a raw food dish to serve 10, for each person attending.

The meeting starts at 6:00 pm. PLEASE try to be on time. We eat at 6:15 and our speakers generally start at 7:00. Please bring a raw food dish of your choice to serve 10 people making sure to review the guidelines for food below, or on our web site.

Guidelines for Food:
Please prepare your dishes with raw, organic (at least pesticide/herbicide free), vegetarian (vegan - no animal products) ingredients. Nothing cooked, steamed, baked or otherwise heated above 105 degrees is appropriate for this potluck. Dehydrated foods and dried fruits are fine as long as they have been prepared within the temperature guideline above. Tofu and most seaweeds are not raw foods. Please pay attention to what might go into your dish; be careful about refined oils, vinegar, spices, salt, garlic and onions please...is it raw and truly healthy, etc. Could some things be added later at the potluck by those who want it? Some attendees have been on the raw path for 20+ years so we must adhere to these seemingly strict guidelines. There are some wonderful raw foods preparation books available at the local health food stores for new ideas, or you can go to
htp://http://www.living-foods.com for lots of great recipes. Beautiful leafy greens and veggies presented in a wide variety of (raw) ways are always a winner. Be creative, enjoy yourself and have fun! If in doubt - leave it out! Call or email if you need ideas or have questions.

Plates and Silverware:
Please bring your own plate and silverware. Not only is this ecologically beneficial, it's a much more pleasing dining experience.

Directions:
Aldersgate Church is in San Rafael (Terra Linda area), Marin County, California.
It can be reached by US Highway 101 north of San Francisco, exiting at Freitas Parkway just north of the Marin County Civic center, a noted Frank Lloyd Wright designed structure. Following Freitas Parkway west, turn left on Las Gallinas, then right on Nova Albion Way. Turn right again on Montecillo, passing Kaiser Hospital. Turn left on Trellis and left again at the crest of the hill, which is Wellbrock Heights. Follow the street into the parking area. A map available at <http://www.1wellbrock.org> or on our web site.

Questions:
If you have questions about food choices, directions, or anything else, you may email Hugh Cruickshank at
vibrantlife4u Earthlink net
Please let us know by email if you change your email address.

You can now send your friends to <http://www.marinrawfood.com/> for other potluck details.

Speaking Out- For Truth, Peace, and Justice

Sunday, Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday,
January 15, 2006 11 am to 1 pm

Lytton Plaza, (University x Emerson, Downtown Palo Alto,
just a few blocks from the University Ave. Train Station)

Americans and people throughout the world honor the life, words, actions
and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. The day is also the anniversary
of a March upon Congresswoman Anna Eshoo's office in 2002 Demanding a
Congressional Investigation of 9/11. In 2003, a subsequent March took
place- Demanding an End to the 9/11 Cover-Up, Repeal of the Patriot
Act, and the
Pre-Emptive Impeachment of Bush. Lytton Plaza is also the site of the
weekly Listening For A Change Project, held since October 2001, ( inspired
by a Colombian woman's efforts to defuse violence using the most gentle,
non-violent means possible- "listening.")

Time to speak truths censored by the mainstream press, truths which birth
the movements for social change, for peace and justice. A range of
activists will speak, including- newly elected City Councilman Peter
Drekmeier, Swami Beyondananda, T.U.C.'s Maria Gilardin, Taking Aim's Ralph
Schoenman, Ken Jenkins, John Bass, Ed Rippy, David Kubiak, Christian
Pecaut, Green Candidates Laura Wells, Tian Harter, and Carol
Brouillet who will publicly launch her Congressional Campaign with a short
statement-

"Like Martin Luther King, Jr., I have a dream, too. A dream of a
world, without war, a dream of a world where resources are not squandered
on weapons to protect the rich from the poor , a dream of a world where
there is no need for armies, nor weapons of mass destruction, nor
terrorism, and wealth is measured by the health and well being of our
relationships, our children, our community, our planet.

"Truth is the first casualty of war. The official 9-11 story is a
lie. Lies are used to sell unjustifiable wars. The PATRIOT Act was
anything, but patriotic, and an attack upon the Constitution, the Bill of
Rights, dissent. Congress was terrorized and pressured into passing it quickly.

"When we demanded an investigation of 9-11, Bush and Cheney limited
the investigation and had it overseen by the CIA and the men, who should
have been investigated for their role in the attacks, Goss and Graham. The
systemic destruction of evidence and cover-up culminated in the deeply
flawed official Report directed by Philip Zelikow, part of the Bush
National Security transition team, who co-authored a book with Rice. The
Commission ignored, omitted and distorted evidence that didn't fit within
the parameters outlined by the official narrative.

"Congresswoman Eshoo, has supported the official story and
championed the Intelligence Transformation Act, based upon the Commission's
recommendations.

"It is time to challenge and abolish the National Security State,
Homeland Security, F.EM.A. which seem designed to protect the few from the
many. False Security depends upon having the most sophisticated weapons,
surveillance devices, and control over communications systems. . The
obscene military transformation of the country threatens the health, well
being, and civil liberties of its citizen and the world. Real Security
means water, food, shelter, health, and healthy relationships between
people, people and planet.

"The "War on Terrorism" is a bogus war, a war of terrorism against
all people, a war on truth, a war on freedom, launched by a terrorist
attack which has all the fingerprints of a special operation, a Reichstag
Fire. 9-11 was one of the false pretexts, lies, used to sell the war on
Iraq.

"We need a national dialogue on Impeachment, the responsibility of
the American people and Congress to rein in a criminal regime that is
capable terrorizing its own people, as well as pursuing illegal, immoral,
wars of aggression against other countries, and stealing elections.

"I hope that others share my dream for transforming this country from
a violent, dominating bully, to a respectful, helpful friend.

"I hope that those who share my belief that "Impeachment," Repeal of
the PATRIOT Act, Redirecting Resources from Killing to Healing, are our
best hope for the country and will support my campaign. I cannot do this
alone; there must be a powerful social movement. Apathy, Disengagement,
Fear and Cynicism are the forces which perpetuate the war economy,
corporate globalization. Engagement, Empowerment, Hope, Courage, Truth,
Growing Real Communities within our society can transform it to serve and
nurture life.

"Another world is possible. We can do together what none of us can
do alone. I have no experience within government nor corporations, but I
do have experience in mothering, organizing, building community, learning
how to work cooperatively, finding the deeper truths and purposes which
bind us with all of humanity. As citizens, our greatest duty, to
ourselves, to our families, to the world, is to rein in our own government,
and hold it accountable for its actions, this is why I am running for
office, to champion Truth, Peace, Justice, and Ecological Wisdom.

I hope you will join us on January 15th for the Speak-Out, Rally for
Truth, Peace and Justice. I hope it doesn't rain. After over four years
of the weekly Wednesday' "Listening for a Change," Project. I believe I
will change the title to "Listening and Speaking for a Change" and reserve
the first hour for Listening and the second hour for Speaking and
organizing. If you cannot join us on the 15th, please join us on a
sunny/cloudy/non-rainy Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm at Lytton Plaza.

A Brief Introduction

? Discover your purpose--and live it

? Uncover your beliefs about your self that block your prosperity

? Reveal how your thinking around money keeps it from you

? Resolve the internal conflict between being spiritual and being in business

Evolutionary Guide

All in one brief evening!

Do you think or feel that a spiritual life and a monetarily prosperous life are in conflict? Are you considering taking that leap of faith by going into business for your Self? Have you already done so and are looking to increase your income, your opportunities, or get more "business savvy"? Do you want to increase your effectiveness and turn more prospects into clients? Do you want a greater command of the nuts and bolts of your business? Are you an employee or executive, satisfied with your job, your career, your income, but are lacking that sense of fulfillment that can only come from living your spiritual purpose?

Would you simply like to be happier, more fulfilled, or feel more purpose in what you do?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then this mini workshop is for you.

Imagine living your purpose, driven by the unique essence of your spirit, enraptured in your day to day tasks because you are thriving while living with the freedom you have dreamed of all your life. Imagine being someone who says "I love my life. I live my purpose. I do what I want to do and I am making money for it."

Think this is impossible? Think again. However...

In order to do this, you must first resolve your limiting beliefs about your Self, about money, and about the society in which we live. Beliefs that are largely unconscious and do not serve you and your thrival.

Take your business and your Self to the next level. Start by registering NOW:

Investment: $12.00

If you've seen the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know?" then you already know from experts interviewed in the film what the power of manifestation can do for all of us.

In recent decades, Quantum Physicists have uncovered a startling scientific discovery: our thoughts shape the reality around us. Why then does it seem impossible to shape our lives the way we want? Manifestation expert Zen DeBrücke has a simple answer: Most of us are unaware of the unique combination of practices it takes to manifest absolutely anything we want in our lives.

Sound too good to be true? Our Power Manifestation graduates disagree. They have closed million dollar sales deals overnight that were dragging on for months or years, settled lawsuits and difficult divorces with once-unthinkable positive outcomes, created and funded new businesses and manifested better physical health.

You Will Learn:
o     The powerful part you play as your own ultimate source of prosperity
o     How your underlying emotions and feelings affect your ability to be successful
o     How your childhood, life experience, and social conditioning have constructed
     desires and beliefs
o     How to recognize the emotional and mental bonds that stop abundant living from
      being part of your life
o     How to magnetize what you really want, and to make it happen quickly
o     How to empower new ideas that will lead you to a more fulfilling and harmonious
      life

Sponsored by YLEM: Artists Using Science and Technology

Sylvia Pengilly, dancer, composer and video artist, demonstrates how
video and music can be combined to create visual and audio splendor.
She will show two works and do a real time demonstration of the
software used. Multimedia artist Beverly Reiser and video artist Mark
McGothian will show their interactive piece created for Burning Man
called "The Black Hole of Desire."
And, there's more (to be announced)!

PROGRAM

Sylvia Pengilly is a composer of both electronic and acoustic music
who is fascinated by the correlation between what the ear hears and
what the eye sees. She was willingly seduced into the world of video
and computer graphics. Her current works amplify the theme of each
work by introducing it to the audience through the eye as well as
through the ear.

"Patterns of Organic Energy," her music/video work using these
techniques, will demonstrate how video and music can be combined
within a common framework. She will give a realtime demonstration of
the software used. This piece was included in the recent Computer
Music Journal special edition on music and video.

"The Outer Edge of Possibility," which represents her first
collaboration with composer Michael Rhoades will also be presented.
This work is based visually upon a simple silhouette of the human body
which is subjected to amazing transformations that are only possible
through the miracle of software.

She is professor emeritus of the College of Music at Loyola
University, New Orleans. Mathematics and physics, including Chaos
Theory, Quantum Mechanics, and Superstrings, frequently provide the
basis for her works.

---------

Beverly Reiser has been doing multimedia for twenty years, and had an
early piece shown at Centre Pompidou in Paris. For 14 years she was
president of YLEM, and helped design its first web site in 1984-5.
YLEM's prize-winning site was one of the first fine arts sites on the
web. From the Black Rock Foundation she and video artist Mark
McGothian received a commission this year, enabling them to branch out
in their multimedia work. In "The Black Hole of Desire," she and Mark
created a booth at Burning Man where people recorded their desires. It
had a playback feature where people could hear what had been recorded.
This has been combined with sound they collected to make an intriguing
DVD.

Alaskan Rainforest Kayak Journey
Ecology Center 2530 San Pablo Ave, near Dwight Way Berkeley

One of the great surviving ecosystems of the planet, a wilderness inhabited and utilized by many people, the rainforest of coastal Alaska presents a unique opportunity for us to redefine the human relationship to the biosphere.

Kayaking in Southeast Alaska has become the life passion of speaker Dan Kiely. In the past seven summers, he has paddled over 400 days (mostly solo) through many areas of the islands and mainland coast that encompass the Tongass rainforest. From the world-renowned Glacier Bay to the rarely visited shores of Kuiu Island and the outer coast of Chichagof Island, he has wandered and photographed the waters, landscapes, and animals of the Alaska coast.

Come enjoy a journey through this extraordinary land and seascape and find inspiration to expand one's kayaking adventures. Also learn about one of America's great rainforests and efforts to preserve this wilderness area.
