30 Oct.: Sunday, 2 AM:
Daylight savings time ends in most of USA.
"Fall back"!
Like, 2 AM becomes 1 AM.

[ Eventually -- 2006? 2007? --
this fall-back will take place in early November,
instead of late October. ]

...........

oct 30, Sunday,
early morning,
SF:

BARE TREE-HUG

the 2nd KRON4 TV-recorded TreeSpirit Project photo shoot
[.... on the LAST Sunday of October; the day before Halloween ].

WHEN: Sunday, October 30th, 2005, from 8 - 10am
[ Pacific STANDARD Time]
(it may end earlier, IF everyone arrives punctually at 8am).

Many of us will leave for the 11am Sausalito "Sweat Your Prayers"
dance afterwards.

[ Others may go to FREE Tribal Stomp concert,
in Speedway Meadows, Golden Gate Park, SF, from 10am to 6pm. ]

WHERE: Meet at the intersection of Lombard and Mason Streets,
in SF's North Beach [ Italian ] neighborhood.
(This is the NW corner of Joe DiMaggio park,
which has a chain link fence around it;
one block east of angled Columbus St.)

WHO: You and your friends are cordially welcomed to
join the approximately thirty or so volunteer participants
who have said they'd love to come be a part of this unusual
outdoor adventure.
Feel free to share this email with friends.

WHAT TO BRING:
- The Practical:
a blanket [ or bathrobe, etc.]
to wrap yourself in (while I adjust camera);

- The Playful: your fun-loving, adventurous side;
- The Heartfelt: your intention for a moving,
meditative experience
shared with like-minded humans and
a gorgeous stand of ficus trees [....]
in our fair city.

I believe our collective intention
is a powerful and wondrous thing
beyond rational understanding.
If our large group is intent upon having a beautiful,
peaceful experience together, shared with the world,
I believe only magical things,
always with dashes of the unexpected and uncontrollable,
will happen.

WHAT TO EXPECT: [ 2 ways to participate]
In short, the unexpected and the thrill of a new adventure.

Know that there is a place for both the brave and the more shy.
For the brave, in trees closer to [Jack's still] camera,
and perhaps to speak to Chris Murphy's [TV] camera.
And for the shy,
in trees farther from camera,
no speaking required at all. (*)

Both personality types are welcome,
needed and appreciated!

WHY: The reasons are as varied as you all are,
but include:
> - having adventurous fun;
> - the joy of playing in trees like we used to as
children;
> - facing fears and feeling the courage of living
life more fully.
> And doing this so others may be inspired to live
their lives more fully.

(...Chris Murphy of KRON4 TV news will once again
be recording the proceedings
for a G-rated network TV airing in November);

[You will] receive a photograph from the shoot to document
the experience, in exchange for signing a release;
so both I (for The TreeSpirit Project)
and Chris (for KRON) can share beautiful images with
a larger audience.

As always, I am thrilled and grateful for the
growing response to
these TreeSpirit adventures
and look forward to
sharing this next one
with you on Sunday the 30th @ 8am.

Since I DON'T want to speak on TV,
I'll be in the "shy" group -- bare but silent. ]

DIRECTIONS to Speedway Meadow:

"Speedway Meadow is located along John F. Kennedy Drive,
west of Crossover/Transverse Drive in Golden Gate Park. [...]

Parking will be tight,
so Muni is recommended.
[....]

Getting there on foot
The western edge of Speedway Meadow lies in a valley, so there is no direct approach from the north or south.
From the north, enter the park at 30th Avenue. Turn left at JFK Drive, or head straight up the hill, veering a little to the right as you climb (towards a horse corral). Follow the edge of the Polo Stadium around to the left until you reach the western tip of Speedway Meadow.
From the south, enter the park at 34th Avenue. Head straight north until you reach the Polo Stadium; turn right along the paved bike path directly in front of the entrance. "

SF Bay Guardian says:
Oct. 30

Promoting peace
Most big-time entertainment promoters can learn a thing or two from the late, great Chet Helms. Not only did he help make a name for Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, the Doors, Jefferson Airplane, and many other legendary San Francisco rock musicians through his promotions company, Family Dog, but he also helped create the scene that would hugely contribute to, affect, and mirror this country's political and cultural climate in the '60s. Helms was so deeply associated with the scene that he's considered a founding father of the psychedelic movement. How many promoters of MTV acts will you remember more than three decades from now? Today, Family Dog presents A Chet Helms Tribal Stomp to honor Helms, who died this past June, with a full day of music and entertainment by Nick Gravenites, Harvey Mandel, Taj Mahal, Paul Kantner, Ray Manzarek, Vince Welnick, Big Brother, Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, Canned Heat, Iron Butterfly, Terry Haggerty, Sammy Hagar, Greg Errico, Melvin Seals, and many, many others.
10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Golden Gate Park, Speedway Meadow, JFK near 25th Ave., SF. Free. http://www.2b1records.com/chetmemorial.

Spirit of 73
When speaking about Proposition 73, our dear old Governator Schwarzenegger was quoted as saying, " I wouldn't want to have someone take my daughter to a hospital for an abortion or something and not tell me.
I would kill him if they do that."
Hmmn....
How about the rest of us look at it a little more thoroughly before we amend the California constitution Nov. 8, shall we? Get more information about the controversial parental notification proposition at the
