Hero on screen plays coward in life

by Liberty (SaveFreedom [at] yahoogroups.com)
Will the real "girly-man" please stand up?
To the Editor:

California's Governator sometimes mocks male Democratic legislators
for being "girly-men" --
that is, for being less manly than himself, less strong.

In terms of physique, who can dispute his boast?

But isn't courage also a "manly" trait?

By vetoing equal rights for an unpopular minority group,
Arnold shows that he's afraid of the most backward faction of his own party.
Rather than bravely battling them for control of his party,
rather than struggling heroically to pull his party into the 21st century,
he tries to appease the far-wrong faction.

Appeasement won't help him.
Those bigots still know that Arnold, at heart, isn't one of them.
His conservatism is about economics and business,
not about sexuality and religion.

Meanwhile, by caving in to fundi-fascist fanatics, he displays weakness.
Accustomed to playing a virtual hero on screen,
he plays a coward's role in life.

Arnold coulda been a contender, but he chose to take a fall.
