Please write, call or email your elected officials and let them know you want to see an end to torture. Torture is illegal, it is immoral, and it is NOT in keeping with American values. It is banned by the Bill of Rights and numerous international conventions and agreeements. It is NOT an effective method of gaining information and using torture puts our OWN troops in danger. Let your congressmen/women and senators know you support initiatives that are now in the House and Senate. Ask what he or she is doing to support initiatives that call for independent investigation of torture and abuse.

Ronald Reagan Home players add color to the performance of Raging Grannies from more than 10 US cities! Left: CA National Guard "observer" smirks as she spies on the Grannies, a true example of art imitating life. Right: Jeff Grubler of RRHCI is either portraying a Camp X-Ray prisoner OR has donned a hood to protect his ears from screechy voices of Grannies.

Amnesty International Chapter 19 co-sponsored the event.

Yay for Karen, Cody, and Samson who came, passed out fliers, and held their banner high!

Members of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, in town for their National Congress, played hooky from Saturday afternoon workshops to come experience the real San Francisco.
Thanks, WILPFers!
§TEAR-JERKIN' GRANNY ANTICS
by Granny Ruth and Bill (peninsula_raging_grannies [at] yahoo.com)
39raginggrannies050813.jpg
Raging Grannies from across the nation were deeply moved by Tucson Grannies' rendition of
(You don't want to go to) Guantanamo to the tune of Guantanamera. They clapsed their hearts and waved wooden spoons at the audience of tourists who had come to Union Square to attend an Indonesian festival......Visitors trying to enter the square from the corner of Geary and Post found that the NO MORE TORTURE street theater cast of dozens had taken over an entire entrance to the plaza. Also featured at this event were hip hoppin' cut out characters Condoleeza, Gonzales and Dubya. Watch for video of their antics and Grannies' parodies on Indybay!
