[David Ian Miller interviews
fundamentalist Bishop Donald Green: ]

"....[Q:] If two men or women love each other and are committed,
shouldn't they be allowed to marry like anyone else?
What difference does it make?

[A:] Because it's against the word of God.
I'm not saying that we wouldn't minister to whoever comes to our church.
I'm not on a crusade against the homosexual community or anything like that.
But I'm for what the Bible says, and if anyone asks me,
that's what I'm going to say.

[Q:] Do you have gay members in your church?

[ A: ] I have people who have struggled with homosexuality
that we are working with.
Matter of fact, I have books on it -- "Coming Out of Homosexuality" by Bob Davies, and other ones.
We read these things to try to help individuals, just like we are trying to help a person that was strung out on drugs or broken marriages.

[Q:] What if someone says to you that he or she
doesn't want to change,
that they're happy with the way they are?

[A:] Well, then, there is nothing I can do about that.
I just have to let them be.
I just let them know what the Bible says
and I leave it at that. " [.....]

You are saying that your attitudes are based upon the Bible, and I respect your right to do that. But let me ask you something. Are you SURE your attitudes come from the Bible. I know where you can find the prohibition of male homosexuality. It can be found in an explicit list of prohibited sexual behaviors. Precisely because that's an explicit list, you can't expand it. For example, that same list prohibits female bestiality but leaves out male bestiality. And more to the point of the present case, leaves out female homosexuality. So Leviticus is no help to you. There are of course references in the New Testament to "immoral conduct" of women. But they are not defining what is or should be counted as immoral. In other words, you can use them ONLY by having already decided (from some other source) that sex between women IS immoral.

So tell us --- what is your Biblical source for the prohibition of Lesbianism? Where do you find this prohibited by G-d? << as opposed to by men >>
