Marriage equality is part of a rapid evolution toward social and sexual freedom,
which Spain has been experiencing in the past decade or so,
since the death of fascist dictator Franco.
Recently Parliament voted to liberalize divorce laws; and to allow stem-cell research.
Spain's next big battle may be about abortion.
The Vatican leads Spanish reactionaries in trying to
preserve fascist anti-sex laws. ]
