Strategizing Meeting to Fight the Minuteman Project

I'm throwing this meeting together. If you're in the Bay Area, you should come on by. Regardless, spread the word about this - please!

Strategizing Meeting to Fight the Minuteman Project!

Wednesday, June 22 at 7 PM
New College of California
Room 4
777 Valencia (between 18th and 19th)
near 16th St./Mission BART
San Francisco [map]

Come to a strategizing/organizing session to fight these right-wing racists!

Following the lead of activists in Southern California, the Bay Area, and the immigrant, Latin@, Chican@ and indigenous communities who are most impacted by these heinous racists, we will attempt to formulate a plan of resistance to counter those who would divide us with borders and selectively proclaim some human beings as “illegal.”

In April, under the rhetoric of fighting terrorism and protecting the economy, an armed and insidiously racist vigilante organization called the Minuteman Project organized patrols of the Arizona border with Mexico.

These right-wing, anti-immigrant activists and their allies are now expanding the border patrol project to New Mexico, Texas and California. In California, one patrol will begin on July 18, another on September 16 (intentionally scheduled on Mexico’s Independence Day) and a third during October.

In their words and deeds they have shown they have no qualms about using violence. At a protest against a talk being given by Minuteman founder Jim Gilchrist, a Minuteman supporter drove his car into a group of demonstrators, sending two to the hospital. While he was not charged by police, seven protesters were arrested and charged with eight felonies. Some had bail set as high as $50,000.

Are there any anti minuteman protests ,or any groups opposing the minutemen forming in Sonoma County Calif? All of Calif. should be opposing this white supremist group. I can't believe we have a governor that supports these Nazis.I see the Council of Churches in Calif, wrote him a letter deploring him for supporting these people. I feel he should be recalled. He's an embarrassment. Anyway let me know if any groups are forming in Sonoma County area

If you can make the trip
Join us for a counter demo against SOS-MM on June 25th
See the attached flyer.
Call for places to stay.

Let's meet and coordinate for up coming border actions.
LA activists have organized around this issue and we are solid. Let's coordinate and fight SOS-MM statewide. Also San Diego is gearing up. That's where the frontline will be this Summer.

Any public reportback from the bay area meeting..?
by James Lewis
Apparently Chase was scared off by activists because he both quit minuteman and also bailed out regarding the Border Watch. The word is he has turned California Minuteman over to another former Arizona Minuteman.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
