June 1- June 5 San Francisco is hosting the U.N. World Environment Days.
Those slated to attend the conference include UN Secretary General Kofi
Annan, Klaus Toepfer, executive director of the United Nations Environment
Program, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and mayors from
London, Shanghai, Kabul, Buenos Aires, Sydney, Phnom Penh, Jakarta, Rome,
and Istanbul.
"I look forward to working closely with leaders of the world's major
cities to establish guidelines for environmentally sensible urban life,"
Newsom said. "This conference is a remarkable opportunity for all of us."
This is truly a remarkable opportunity for all of us...because poor
communities of color are NEVER invited to the eco-elite table!

Greenaction community organizers and community members will tour the
mayors into Bayview Hunters Point- a community over burdened by toxic
industry including superfund sites, PG&E Hunters Point Power Plant and
more.

HOMELAND: FOUR PORTRAITS OF NATIVE ACTION:

The theatre is accessible by:
* MUNI Metro lines K, L, & M
* F Market streetcar
* Buslines 33, 35, 37 and 24
The new, award-winning documentary will be screening as part of the Green
Screen Film Festival. Co-presented by the Mill Valley Film Festival,
HOMELAND will be introduced by noted Native American activist, Gail Small,
and award-winning filmmaker Roberta Grossman. Evon Peter of Native
Movement, represented in the film, will be present. The film features
leaders from four Native American communities passionately engaged in
struggles to preserve sovereignty and save their lands from environmental
degradation. HOMELAND won the Santa Barbara Fund for Social Justice Award
and the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the 2005 Santa Barbara
