Muwekma Ohlone Tribe and World Environmental Day

by Francisco Da Costa (frandacosta [at] att.net)
We cannot do jutice to anyone or anyone cause unless we respect the land we call San Francisco which was stolen from the Muwekma Ohlone - the First People of this area. World Environment Day (WED) means nothing unless those that pretend to stand for certain values respect Mother Earth.
World Environment Day (WED) is round the corner. There will be many Dog and Pony Shows. It is imperative that the organizers first recognize the First People of this area the Muwekma Ohlone. That they learn to genuinely love and Respect Mother Earth. We cannot pretend to speak and pretend to act and while we are doing that our thoughts are far away and embrace greed and destruction of this Earth. We are temporary keepers of this Earth. Most politicians encourage and foster - verbosity and diatribe and they spew words that mean nothing. 18 treaties signed by the U.S. Government and the California tribes were never kept. Once all that we see was pristine. The land was stolen from the California Tribes. Now we all can gauge for ourselves the harm we have done and the methods mostly dubious we invent to mitigate and abate. We must learn first not to pollute, not to harm, not to adversely impact. Let us not create cesspools and then think of stupid methods to clean up our mess - when we know we should not have done it in the first place. Jared Blumenfeld, Gavin Newsom, San Francisco Environment - are as fake as they come. There will be lots of Dog and Pony shows - we want concrete action:

1. No more Combustion Turbines anywhere in San Francisco.

2. Less cars and more Public Transportation.

3. Good schools and health services for our children.

4. Quality care and respect for our Elders.

5. Homes for our poor and respect for those that are needy.

6. Jobs with pay that repect the individuals with benefits.

7. The infrastructure of this City should be maintained, repaired,
and upgraded. Do not pollute the watershed.

8. Our land, water, air, and the skies should not be polluted.

9. Spiritual values and human dignity should be upheld. It is
wrong to uphold and encourage those practices that reduce
human beings to perverts.

10. We should encourage Harmony and Peace.

The First People and the Muwekma Ohlone respect the United Nations. The U.N. has a role to play - discerning and being fair.
Many dignitaries will talk and some will talk with forked tongues.
Other will try to say the truth but will find it difficult to follow with actions. Mayor Gavin Newsom is the master of SPIN and has NOT sincerely addressed environmental issues. Again and again he talks the talk but fails to walk the walk. The San Francisco Environment (SFE) should be disbanded - this corrupt City Department has wasted millions of dollars. One can get the report from the City Budget Analyst. San Franciscans beware of the Dog and Pony Shows. Speak out and tell the world leaders and their cronies the Truth. Today, San Franciscans run their lives - woe to the day when the corrupt City Officials attempt to run anything that adversely impacts the lives of millions without checks and balances.
