Who Has Been Naughty and Nice in 2004?
And Castro For All Action to Launch Hotline in Time for the Holidays
December 16, 2004 — On Saturday, December 18, beginning at 6 PM at Harvey Milk Plaza (Market/Castro), And Castro For All (AC4A) will speak out against discriminatory practices in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community and launch a new anti-discrimination hotline. Donning Santa hats and elf shoes in the spirit of the season, AC4A will encourage greater goodwill in the Castro for all LGBT people—Calling out Scrooges and handing out hotline information. As many people now know, some business owners have been naughty and others have been nicer when it comes to discrimination.
Examples:
NAUGHTY: Business owners violating city and state civil rights, stalling or avoiding human rights investigations, and making people feel unwelcome as employees or patrons on the basis of their race and gender.
NICE: AC4A, along with Grinch-spotting, launching its new anti-discrimination hotline. We hope it’s one gift that keeps on giving.
WHAT: Naughty and Nice in 2004
WHERE: It begins at Harvey Milk Plaza (Market and Castro)
WHEN: It starts at 6:00 PM, Saturday, December 18, 2004
WHY: We know if you’ve been good or bad, so be good for goodness sake!
And Castro For All is a new initiative seeking to build sustainable efforts toward greater inclusion and diversity in the Castro and in San Francisco’s LGBT community more generally. Our three goals are accountability for discrimination, recourse when it occurs, and dialogue to bring about genuine growth.
