Report on Rallies Against Voter Fraud/Media Censorship
Description of Rallies at KGO and Boxer's Office Monday, November 29, 2004 urging media coverage of the important problems with the 2004 Presidential Election and Boxer's support in standing up for the voters and democracy.
Sunday evening, I bicycled to a nearby house, to join 18 people making banners and signs in anticipation of today's rallies. Eight of us carpooled to San Francisco, delighted to see a large group of protesters, with signs already assembled before KGO. Many joined us to help carry our incredibly long banners, and carry our many home-made signs. Over a hundred very creative, articulate, informed people gathered on the sidewalk in front of KGO, not far from another Television Station, and we were glad to see the television cameras rolling. People had come from the East Bay, Marin, San Jose, as well as San Francisco.
Our main points were emblazoned across the signs that were carried and the stories that our speakers told- in brief soundbites-
"We want a paper trail on electronic voting machines, and a standardized voting method throughout the US. We support the recount and ask for complete investigations into alleged tampering with the 2004 election results."
"Voting rights are NON-PARTISAN and every American wants to and deserves to have their vote counted."
"Some countries aren’t lucky enough to have a constitution, but we are. We intend to assure that our constitutionally protected right to vote is guaranteed."
"We reject anyone who would deny American citizens the right to have their votes counted."
"Those who would deny us a paper trail on electronic voting machines undermine the constitution and America."
"Elections that cannot be fairly and accurately audited are undemocratic and fundamentally un-American."
"Anyone who disagrees with the concept of fair and accountable elections truly must hate America."
Speakers who had been organizing for months in Ohio, Florida, the South spoke of their experiences, witnessing the long lines, the ordeals that people went through trying to exercise their right to vote. It was rather heartbreaking to hear that the US did not meet international fair election standards. The disparity between the exit polls and the voter results were noted. There was also singing, chanting before the speakers, and when the press conference was fully underway some idiots across the street began singing very loudly, disruptively and using a blowhorn. At that point, I went across the street to shut-up the guy with the blow horn. He was a La Rouche organizer and extremely unreasonable, apparently they have been disrupting, or trying to disrupt the rallies drawing attention to the "stolen election." So I missed some of the speeches, in order that the press and others could hear them. Aside from the La Rouche group, which we finally did quiet with a promise of three minutes at our microphone- to get them to stop their awful, loud singing; there was much co-operation and solidarity amongst the many groups that were brought together, by what we recognized as a vital common interest. If elections are rigged, there is no accountability and democracy is a sham.
At noon, we marched/paraded together to Senator Boxer's office where we rallied, sang, chanted once again, and more speakers were heard while a delegation met with Senator Boxer's staff.
We also urged everyone to show great support for Senator Boxer and let her know that this is a critical issue, for our country and the world. We wanted her to support the GAO investigation, but more than that, we wanted her to be the Senator to sign on to any Congressional demand for investigation into the disenfranchisement of voters that they felt merited attention. I believe the most powerful segment of "Farenheit 9-11" was where the Congress stood up for their constituents right to vote and Gore asked each of them if they had the support of a Senator and dismissed them when they failed to show Senatorial support. We wanted Boxer to be the Senator that would sign on and not allow the disinfranchisement, intimidation, dismissal of a large number of people's votes. We urged everyone to come back to San francisco next Monday, to urge Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi's Office to carry our message to Congress and enlist her support for voter's rights.

I am including here, for the benefit of those who want to know more on this issue, a copy of news items included in a press kit presented to the media this morning at 11:00 am in a demonstration at KGO TV, 900 Front St. San Francisco.
The demonstration is to protest the corporate newsmedia blackout on widespread reports of felony election fraud and voter suppression.
Following the KGO demonstration, we will march to the office of Sen. Barbara Boxer, at 1700 Montgomery St. San Francisco.
Delegates among us will urge Sen. Boxer to publicly recounts in Ohio and other states, the GAO electoral investigation, and ultimately,
to stand with members of the House of Representatives in challenging the Electoral College votes resulting from this mockery of an election.
