STOP THE MACHINE - PROTEST GORE GETTY

by Green Revolution
We have the party. The Revolution has started and will spread across the country with Mayor Matt.

Stop Newsom, Stop the Two Party System

Greens Protest Against Al Gore

The Green Party is the new power in San Francisco. We elected Matt Gonzalez President of the Board of Supervisors and will elect him Mayor on December 9.

But we must continue our struggle against the two party system. During the 2000 elections, Al Gore fought to censure Ralph Nader from the debates. The Democrats are scared that the Green Party now represents the true progressives and will fight to silence our voices.

But we will fight back. The Green Party is the fastest growing party in the nation and we are growing every day. On Tuesday, we need your help to protest Al Gore and keep the momentum growing.

Stop Newsom. Stop Gore. Stop the Democrats!!!

Tuesday, December 2
12:00 PM
Zeitgeist, 199 Valencia St

We will rendeveous at Zeitgeist and begin marching at 1:00 to Regency Theater, 1300 Van Ness Ave. at Sutter Street.

WEAR GREEN or a costume. Forward this to everyone you know!!!

Greens Against Gore Afterparty

After showing the media the strength of the new Green Party, we’re going to celebrate! Join us at the Make Out Room Tuesday night as we trade stories about the protest, dance and drink.

There's another thread on here where a lot of people already explained why they think this is bad idea.

One person I was talking to recently said they wondered if Gore even *knows* wtf Newsom has been up to. Why should he?

I was saying we should get Kucinich to endorse Matt on the day that Gore comes. But I'm guessing Kucinich would never do that. Still, someone should ask him. It would be a great olive branch towards the Greens from the progressive Dems, trapped in their own party.

All Newsom needs to win is one corpmedia story on Green "freaks" marching through SF in goofy costumes and green face paint - claiming that SF now BELONGS to them.
Newsom is doing a great job of electing Matt all on his own. I expect Gore comin out for Newsom will help Matt too.
Please, for now, if you must protest - dress up as a Democrat - not a Green.
After Matt wins put on the costumes, green facepaint, dance, drink and protest all you want.

Gavin Newsom almost gets pied and some of his contributors make it into a commercial for him ... shameful. It is a quick download ... you must watch this scandal. Hipidity Hop, Mango Bunny

The supposed Green protest against Gore mentioned in this thread appears to be manufactured by Newsom.

Very interesting. The whois data on this weird little IP address that's the source of the email tells us almost nothing. It tells us the domain was registered (fairly incoherently - gavinnewsomfor?) back in February of this year.

It tells us that the mailing address in the lookup is
2623 Camino Ramon
San Ramon, CA
94583-9130

I've just spent some time fishing around for more info on that address. In infospace (http://www.infospace.com) no one is listed exactly there.

A google search on 2623 Camino Ramon reveals that the address is apparently an SBC switching point. There are also listings (don't know how current) for a restaurant at that address, some SBC offices, some union offices - tons of people.

So, if - and this is a relatively large if - that ARIN lookup on gavinnewsomfor -- http://ws.arin.net/cgi-bin/whois.pl?queryinput=!%20NET-216-100-140-8-1 (follow the hyperlink from that first ARIN lookup, the one which just tells you there's a group called gavinnewsomfor with a block of 5 static IPs) -- if this
data is meaningful for whoever registered the domain,
and not just for the IP block, then whoever registered it is pretty clever. They've kept their fingerprints of ownership off the site.

What I also find very interesting is that if I go to a registrar (try this at, for example, http://www.godaddy.com) and ask "can I buy http://www.gavinnewsomfor.com?"

The site says "yes, you can - no one owns that domain name."

Which is why that data in the ARIN lookup is so weird.

The IP address, however, does apparently relate to a standard SBC low-end static IP address block, which run out of a switch in San Ramon.

However: I'm on a dialup line myself just now without the full toolset to really look hard at the addresses in play here. I'll leave the real analysis for later and/or for someone who's got the kit to have at it this evening.

The point is the email came from mail.gavinnewsom.com (216.100.140.9) and the IP block (216.100.140.8 - 216.100.140.15) is registered to "GavinNewsomFor" (Mayor).
