Rush Limbaugh Says Blacks And Hispanics Are Too Stupid To Know How To Vote

by Bob Beckel
Rush said that blacks and Hispanics were “too stupid” to use the machines. As to the allegation that there are too few voting precincts in minority areas for the 10/7 recall Limbaugh said that location “didn’t matter since blacks and Hispanics were bused to precincts anyway”.
After learning the 9th circuit of the US Court of Appeals had ordered California to halt the recall vote scheduled for 10/7/03 Rush Limbaugh lost it and maybe lost some sponsors as well. Rush said that blacks and Hispanics were “too stupid” to use the machines. As to the allegation that there are too few voting precincts in minority areas for the 10/7 recall Limbaugh said that location “didn’t matter since blacks and Hispanics were bused to precincts anyway”.
The appeals court held that minority voters would be at a disadvantage on October 7th since voting machines in largely minority areas of the state were using ‘punch card’ voting machines. These are the same antiquated machines that caused the Great Florida Hanging Chad battle in 2000. Most affluent and largely Republican areas of the state have state of the art voting machines that cause far fewer voting errors that the punch card machines.

Clearly realizing he had gone too far Rush tried to pull one of his typical bait and switch moves. He said that it was really the Democrats and the Courts who were calling blacks and Hispanic stupid, and in a great show of RushBulls… said this was insulting to minorities. Problem is Rush no Democrat or court ever said that, and they certainly never said that it didn’t matter where or how many minority voting precincts since they were bused anyway. Every Democrat who knows about campaigns knows that 85% of minority voters walk or drive their own cars to vote.

Can’t get out of this one Rushbo. You made two hateful racist statements, and then tried to pass them off to Democrats and the courts. Every minority and progressive group in this country should contact his sponsors and ESPN, who for some inexplicable reason, put Limbaugh on the air as a pro football analyst.bobbeckel.com will provide email addresses for Rush Limbaugh sponsors in the days ahead.

Limbaugh Calls Those Who Criticize Iran War Cowards
In his 9/11/03 radio show Rush, the ditto head, accused the Democratic Presidential Candidates and other critics of post war chaos of “Being cowards….ready to cut and run”. Not a single candidate has called for the US to leave Irag immediately Rush. Fact is you are the coward by sitting behind that fat desk of yours using airwaves owned by the public to spew lies and character assassination. Why don’t you call John Kerry a coward to his face? I doubt you’d play golf at your segregated club any time soon.

Rush Berates the mother of a US Veteran
In a shockingly cruel manner Rush Limbaugh on his 9/10 show berated the mother of a US veteran. The woman had called in to tell Rush her son worked two jobs, neither of which offered health insurance. Her son’s baby had a severe medical condition, and grandma wanted Rush to know his ass kissing of the vaunted free enterprise system [our words not hers] did not provide much healthcare or any in her son’s case.
Limbaugh told her to let her son make his way. If he worked hard enough he could get health care. Rush suggested that the son should get his priorities straight suggesting that he might be spending money on unnecessary things. The kid has no spare money after food, rent, and the baby. Then bigmouth goes on to say we all have tough choices in life. YOU’VE NEVER HAD A TOUGH LIFE RUSH SO HOW THE HELL WOULD YOU KNOW? Rush proceeded to hang up on the poor women using his normal excuse of a technical problem. Funny how those problems only happen when Limbaugh can’t handle a caller.

Rush Goes After War Hero
On his 9/9 radio show Rush proved once again how he can perform character assassination with the turn of a phrase. Rush called Senator John Kerry D-Mass. “a reputed Vietnam hero.” Kerry I believe received two bronze stars, two silver stars, and a purple heart. Limbaugh how dare you attack a war hero with your snide little ‘reputed’ shot. Given your listening audience I’m sure most of them missed it, but we didn’t. Did you ever pick up a weapon in defense of your country Rush? The answer is you were a draft dodger.

Rush Declares the war on terrorism the 4th world war
Limbaugh on his program today 9/8 declared the war on terrorism the 4th world war. TenÕs of millions lost their lives in WW2 Rush. Also if BB.C remembers a comment you made last year did you not say that the war on terrorism certainly isnÕt WW2. How far over are you going to bend to defend this failed Presidency? Have you no shame?

Rush's advice to the unemployed
Limbaugh, on his radio show on 9/2 said that unemployment benefits are too long. “It gives people no incentive to look for work.” What work Rush? You and your Boy George support for tax cuts for rich people like you have created no jobs as promised. 2.7 million jobs lost under your Boy. Find work? Get a grip ditto head!

Rushbo calls Californian Cruz Bustamante a 'bigot'
On yesterdays 9/2 broadcast Limbaugh referred to Californian Cruz Bustamante a 'bigot'. Limbaugh refused to say why. Typical rightwing stunt. Throw out a lie and let it sit there. Given the bell curve ratings of Limbaugh's audience, BB.C assumes they all just nodded their heads and said 'anything you say Rush' Mega Dittos.

Rushbo attacks civil rights leader Congressman John Lewis
In one his most repulsive in years of repulsive commentary, Rush Limbaugh attacked civil rights leader John Lewis on his performance at last weekend’s 40th anniversary of Dr. Kings I Have A Dream speech. To paraphrase Limbaugh he said Lewis always looked troubled and angry and doesn’t do anything else. Click here to read entire story

Rush Defends McCarthy
On a spring broadcast Rush Limbaugh defended former Wisconsin Senator Joe McCarthy who in the 50's went on a communist witch-hunt through the Federal Government and the entertainment industry among others. Click here to read entire story

Rushbo attacks civil rights leader Congressman John Lewis
Today 8/26/03 Rush made fun of the 40th anniversary of Dr King’s march on Washington. Just look at those people they have nothing to say feel sorry for them. Rush one of those people was Rep. John Lewis who marched with Dr King and was beaten repeatedly by rightwing racists. He called for hope and noted progress in his speech Sat. Were you on the golf course and missed that Rushbo. By the way ever talk about the rightwing cowards from your state of Missouri who for years lynched defenseless blacks and never prosecuted. John Lewis did more at the Pettis Bridge for this country than you’ll do in your lifetime Rushbo.

And what's the problem??? does the truth hurt?
Get a grip and grow up - he's (Rush) right!
by Joe Hugen
Where do you people come up with this stuff, do you really have nothing better to do than twist the truths and shed poor descriptions of actual accounts. Do your home work on the man and you will find he is not a bigot or a racist. People are just waiting to hear Rush say anything controversial so they can make a moll hill a mountain. Get a grip you liberal cronies.
by yeah, he is
He's also a drug addict and a hypocrite.
by Mario Sanchez
Even self-hating anti-American socialists who think that Rush Limbaugh is the devil incarnate have to laugh at that article and its grotesque twisting of quotes and facts. What a disgrace the left has become, stooping to all out lies to further their agenda.
by just wondering
that he's *not* a drug addict and a hypocrite?

If so, can you prove it?
by Patriot
nessie is always going to attack anyone who has his facts straight, like Rush Limbaugh. Meanwhile, his own perceptions are best illustrated by the way he called Joseph Stalin a "capitalist" and spoke at mind-numbing length about the dog he saw raised from the dead.

Rush Limbaugh has faults, just like everyone else, but he certianly does not deserve the treatment he is receiving on these boards. If he made a rascist comment at any time, his self-appointed critics should be able to reproduce the exact quote to prove it. But they won't, because they can't. Calling someone "stupid" is not a rascist remark, any more than someone who says the NFL favors a certain quarterback because he is black is rascist.

nessie and some of the others around here may think the National Enquirer is every bit as reliable as Robert Fisk's reports from Iraq. If so, you probably like the photo of George W. Bush shaking hands with the alien from outer space a few months ago. But I suggest we wait for all the facts to come out. In the meantime, you might want to attack Rush's arguments on the merits, instead of these sweeping generalizations and ad hominens. Or else you really do need a new debate coach.
by Irving
I suppose you're saying he's guilty, right?

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty, nessie ashcroft?
by Irving
What's this about a dog and flatlining? I'm "just wondering". :)
by the man with no name
to distract attention from lying, racist, hypocrite who just got caught in the act.

Since different races evolved, please explain why your viewpoint supercedes that of life itself. Be specific. Give examples. Tell us that life doesn't know what it's doing, but you do.

Please give proof that you are superior in your beliefs.

by Flush Rush
you are one.
by Irving
Where's your "proof" I'm racist?

Prove to me that what you're saying is "true", and not just a figment of your elitist imagination. If life evolved the different races, then who are you to know better?

I'm waiting on your "proof"....
by Yawn
I see some people from that HATE GROUP "FreeRepublic Network" have arrived. I know they worship the ground the big fat rascist idiot walks on.

Freepers are always quick to defend the rights of rascists in any situation. FREEPERS: You are under the microscope.
by meanwhile, back on the topic
It's not about nessie, either.

It's about Rush Limbaugh, who's a liar, a hypocrite, and apparently a doper, too.

Stay on the subject.

Whether you love or hate 1950s communist hunter Joe McCarthy, does it matter if he was an opiate addict?

McCarthy's life and legacy are back in the spotlight thanks to a new book by hyperconservative commentator and author Ann Coulter. The book, "Treason," not only defends McCarthy, but raises him as a hero.

I'm not really in a position to judge the merit of Coulter's arguments. I don't know a whole lot about McCarthy, and I haven't read all of "Treason."

I did, however, skim about 60 pages of the book in small chunks while loitering in various bookstores. I also checked the index for certain key words. I didn't find "morphine," "drug" or "Federal Bureau of Narcotics."

To be fair, I looked in more academic McCarthy biographies available at my local library, and I didn't find anything tying McCarthy to morphine there either.

But, different researchers have found support for the proposition that McCarthy regularly used morphine, refused to quit and was eventually given an unlimited supply of the drug by the head of the federal government's drug war. A good discussion of the evidence is presented in John C. McWilliams' biography of Harry J. Anslinger, Commissioner of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics from 1930- 1962.

Anslinger, whose FBN was the predecessor of the DEA, first publicized the allegation in his book "The Murderers," published in 1961. Granted, any information from Anslinger must be taken with a grain of salt. He was a one- man propaganda machine whose influence on the drug war lives on today. When known facts didn't fit his ideology, Anslinger ignored them or manufactured his own.

But, his curious tale about a hardened morphine addict in the U.S. Congress has been confirmed by agents who worked under Anslinger, and the co-author of "The Murderers."

In his book, Anslinger details a confrontation with an unnamed congressman, after learning the congressman was a regular morphine user. It clearly wasn't just any congressman.

"He headed one of the most powerful committees of Congress. His decisions and statements helped to shape and direct the destiny of the United States and the free world," wrote Anslinger, like McCarthy, a dedicated anti-communist.

In Anslinger's account, he approached the lawmaker and berated him, saying the morphine habit was a "grave threat to the country." The lawmaker remained unmoved, replying that he would go to the street for drugs if Anslinger interfered with his supply.

"And if it winds up in a public scandal and that should hurt this country, I wouldn't care," the legislator said, according to Anslinger.

Anslinger reports relenting and offering the elected official all the drugs he needed, so long as the politician didn't go to the street, thereby risking a greater scandal. Anslinger "thanked God for relieving me of my burden," when the lawmaker died.

After Anslinger's own death, researchers interviewed Anslinger's associates and pinpointed McCarthy as the likely identity of the unnamed politician.

It is generally believed that alcoholism killed McCarthy. The official cause of death was acute hepatitis. McCarthy Biographer David Oshinski says that years before his death in 1957, McCarthy downed a quart of liquor a day. Near the end of his life, McCarthy appeared "in a trance, unable to recognize familiar faces or form intelligible words."

Anslinger's biographer notes that morphine was sometimes prescribed as a treatment for alcoholics in the era.

Should Ann Coulter care about any of this? Given her views on drugs and drug users, I think so. A few years ago, Coulter addressed drug policy reform in one of her columns. She was not sympathetic.

"The most superficially appealing argument for drug legalization is that people should be allowed to do what they want with their own bodies, even if it ruins their lives," she wrote. "Except that's not true. Back on Earth, see, we live in a country that will not allow people to live with their own stupid decisions. Ann has to pay for their stupid decisions."

By Coulter's own definition, McCarthy made some stupid decisions. Do these decisions impact her description of him as a hero? Did they impact his work? Was it wise for Anslinger to let McCarthy live with his own stupid decisions? Would the world be a better place if Anslinger had busted McCarthy and treated him like a common criminal?

I don't know the answers to these questions, but I hope Coulter might consider them next time someone asks her how society should deal with drug users who refuse to quit.

Did Rush's Drug Habit CAUSE His Hearing Loss? by Joe Conason Friday October 03, 2003 at 09:03 PM

In April 1999, a team of medical researchers published a study in which they associated significant and progressive hearing loss with the abuse of Vicodin, a powerful painkiller, which combines the drugs hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Could this be more evidence of Mr. Limbaugh's illegal use of narcotics?

This morning I was talking with a friend about the latest misfortunes to befall the White House political team, their pal Rush Limbaugh, and their pawn Arnold Schwarzenegger. "When bad things happen to bad people," he cracked -- and I must admit I laughed. The grotesquely boorish Arnold, the dirty-trickster Karl, the demagogic and apparently drug-dependent Rush (a name that now sounds grimly appropriate) have all brought their new troubles on themselves. Ignore all the whining about how they're being picked on by the media, and remember that these conservatives, particularly Rush, have always mocked the "culture of victimization" that shifts blame for personal failings. Like Bill "Snake Eyes" Bennett, the moralizing, compassion-free Limbaugh is hoisted on his own petard.

Which leaves some questions for Rush to answer, again assuming that his former housekeeper's account is truthful. As a reader points out:

Ok, as for your Rush article, I am not one to write to an author and bash their work but the glaring errors were too much to handle. First I would expect that you would use correct spelling and grammar. Not the case in this article. Next I have to say that a well researched article can stand up to scrutiny and yours cannot stand up to a breeze. Please in the future check your facts and write not from your opinions but from factual data. The concept that minority areas were left to punch card balloting was wrong. Sacramento county used punch card voting and the minorities were not discouraged from voting at them. As they have for the last few decades. Your suppositions were at best elementary. I am neither conservative nor liberal so my opinion is based on the content not the subject. You can do better than that or you justify the concervative view that you are a moron.

Lets get back to the real issue the pillpoping, racist hypocrite called limbaugh.Rush confirmed what we knew all along ,his drug inspired rants and tirades were merely a reflection of his own shortcomings.

by Think Again
Now, I don't agree with everything Rush says, either, but Beckel is wrong on both main counts.

Rush did not say that Blacks and Hispanics are too stupid to vote. He just never said anything of the sort.
He did say, however, that those that were filing legal actions to force the recall election to be postponed were implying it. The reasoning of the whiners was that minorities cannot get a fair vote because they cannot properly and accurately use the punchcard style voting machines as well as rich white folk can use the new touch screen style ones. That just simply is not true. The error rate is higher for the touch screens than the punch card machines. Especially as the voters get older.

Additionally, Rush did not say they were bused to the polls. I am sure some are, as was the case along the Eastern Seaboard in the '60's and '70's. But what he said was, that they often take the bus to the polls. It's not just semantics, there's a huge difference.

Yes, Rush is hypocritical for admonishing those on drugs and all the while popping pills himself. No doubt, he will eat some crow on that account. As he should. He will lose some of his audience and some of his sponsors. As he should. But, ultimately, it's up to them, not Bob Beckel.

If I were Beckel, I wouldn't start an argument over which politicians were war heroes, and which ones were draft dodgers. Were we to compare Republicans and Democrats, I think the score might be a little lopsided. And not in the Dems' favor. Besides, Beckel defended Clinton on this very issue. Now he's trying to argue the other side.

Bustamante IS A BIGOT, and as it turns out, McCarthy was right on almost every charge. Read the Venona Files, or Ann Coulter's book, "Treason". They say essentially the same thing. Ann will give you the Reader's Digest version, though.

Bob Beckel is nothing more than Bob Mulholland on speed. Both are simply the guys that are willing to lie to further the Democrat Party agenda, no matter who is misled or hurt in the process. That's the only reason they get press. They are clowns that entertain the rest of us.
by me
Dear God, read the Ann Coulter book? You've got to be kidding?

Besides, unless you do your research on both sides, how are you going to know what to support?
First of all in the bible Isa40:15-17 it says that all nations besides the nation of israel (which is anyone from black to native indian or hispanic descent) less than nothing. How can you account for that. Then we live in a society that would create something that would pollute the air we breathe -hint (a car) How stupid is that. I can keep going but I'll be here forever.
