Warmongers Ruin Barbie Dollhouse!

by Peacenik
Just when you think it cannot get any worse, the capitalists have come up with another horrible way to promote war: Have toy soldiers destroy Barbie's dollhouse, make it a "command post" and sell the whole scene as a Christmas toy!

All you computer whizzes: Perhaps you could load the horrifying picture so people can see the depravity of the insatiably greedy capitalist class.

To all peacenik parents: Please do not buy war toys. War is not a game and guns and other military paraphernalia are not toys. Sometimes people need guns in a liberation struggle, but they are never toys. Teach peace; buy your children constructive toys. Both girls and boys can and should learn how to build things, make beautiful things, grow things; make music, art, poetry and dance; promote life.

Oh, come on! I had a blast with those little plastic army men guys as a kid,and I never grew up to hurt anybody. And don't even touch my StarWars figuers!
In 1913 H.G.Wells invented the first rules to wargaming in a game called "little wars".It used tin solders and a little toy cannon.H.G. Wells played the game with real milltary commanders and oblitrated them.He hoped these "boobs" would never command real troops!(ww1 started in 1914).He claimed the game made him a pacifist.
Food for thought.

Being parents of three boys, my husband and I had reservations against GI Joe...our sons are all very intrested in "classic toys" and thought these full sized action toys were unique. My husband had them as a child growing up so it came to be a father son experince to find one similar to what "dad" had. They have not shown interest in "Power Rangers", Masters of the Universe and other exceptionally violent toys...nor are they allowed to watch violence on television/video games. In some ways this leaves them a bit out of sink with their peers...but that is what I will do to keep them high minded. I have found that these action figures in a great way teach about history...my boys like to collect the various figures from different wars in history. They admire their uniforms and we make it a point to explain what each figure did in his position. I do not care for the modern G.I. Joe. I am not sure what the name of this line is but I noticed they are much more violent in appearence.
As a mother and a teacher I think these toys in constructive ways can be useful. I also believe in teaching our children the great sacrifice that has been made for our country...we have ancestors that have been in war from the very beginning of this country's birth.
As a teacher, and a woman I might add Barbie may not be an "advocate" of violence but her messge is more destructive then G.I. Joe...She teaches girls that they should walk around in degrading outfits, live in big houses...and plunges into credit card debt. Boys learn to expect this behavior from her...I was never allowed to play with Barbie growing up...my parents thought she taught a more "common" behavior and that we as girls should respect our selves more then her portrayal. I am thankful for this...I also plan to teach my children the qualities to look for in a woman, confidence, education, self worth...you get the picture.
Thanks
