Tikkun's demonstration against Israeli Occupation
Tikkun, a Jewish organization, sponsored a protest demonstration, in front of the San Francisco Israeli Consulate today.
Tikkun's San Francisco demonstration today, in support of Michael Lerner and Professor Cornell West's Tikkun demonstration in Washington, D.C. (they both got arrested today), was very successful. There were perhaps 100-200 people there, maybe more. It was totally peaceful and very well organized.
There were a number of speakers, including a man from Jewish Voice for Peace who grew up in Lebanon and had to move away because of the havoc Ariel Sharon had wreaked there. There was also an Arab-American Catholic priest whose parishioners comprise the largest group of Palestinians from Ramallah outside of Ramallah. He expressed his solidarity with American Jews who have the courage to voice their dissent, their opposition toward Israel's oppressive policies. A few folksingers sang peace songs, including an Irish guy who talked about similar conflicts in Northern Ireland.
The best thing I walked away with is the knowledge that, as an American Jew, although I am in the minority, I am certainly not alone. There are many Jews who oppose Israel's treatment of the Palestinians and who have the courage to speak up. Our numbers are growing, and, hopefully, will continue to grow, until we reach a critical mass to change the current situation. I just hope this happens soon, for the sake of Palestinians, Israeli Jews, and Jews and Arabs all over the world.

Fortunately, it's not. Nor has he turned his back from it - in fact he clearly still embraces his Jewish heritage. Moreso than Ariel Sharon and his Zionazi followers do - if anyone has turned against their own heritage, it's the soldiers and supporters of this Jewish Genghis Khan.
Israel, out of Palestine!
*Sj
It?s a crime if you?re a member of a gang and you perpetuate violence. How can you justify violence on a grand scale and expect safety in the streets of your own city?
At the Jewish Voice for Peace demonstration, protesters put their own safety at risk not solely for their own benefit, but for peace for both sides. What are *you* willing to risk to achieve peace for Israel? Maybe you don?t want peace at all. Maybe what you really want is to conquer and be victorious regardless of the cost in lives. No one with Jewish Voice for Peace is *for* murder. Can you say the same? Who?s the Nazi, here?
I?m not Jewish, but I will continue to show up and support Jewish Voice for Peace. They have my respect for speaking out despite the risk of being ostracized from their own community.
"Leibowitz is right, we are Judeo-Nazis, and why not?"
--Ariel Sharon
Who's the "Nazi," invertebrate?
It's funny to see how you defend Sharon's use of the term Nazi to describe himself, yet hurl it at anyone who objects to his current policy of maiming, torturing, raping, and beating innocent hundreds of Palestinians directly as you write your putrid and infantile comments on this board.
Perhaps you believe your scatological ad hominem attacks are effective? They are merely symptomatic of the utter dread you must be feeling in the face of a wholesale and universal condemnation of Israel by the rest of the world.
But why argue with our babbling pro-Israeli psychopath? Those horrid "ragheads" that little JoJo deplores are currently the object of a campaign of such despicable brutality that even Shimon Peres characterizes it as "a massacre."
Oh, I keep forgetting. All "ragheaded scum" are the same in your "mind," aren't they JoJo?
Even the Palestinian children who are being starved, shot, and even tortured by your hero Sharon at this very moment.
And Our Resident Invertebrate wants us to consider "context" !
the present government of Israel is reactionary, dangerously nationalistic, and corrupt. It is clearly oppressing the Palestinians and engaging in
genocide.
It's only excuse is "survival". While that is an excuse that would justify many crimes, it is not an excuse for
racist genocide.
