New Terrorism Law Used Against ELF

by repostah
here it comes. material support to terrorists. are you a terrorist?
Activist Connor Cash, who was charged with ELF actions just a few months ago, was officially charged with "providing material support to terrorists" last Thursday.

Connor was previously charged with arson and vandalism for a series of actions claimed by the ELF last year in Logn Island.

Cash is accused of aiding ELF activists when he drove them to unspecified Suffolk County sites where acts of vandalism and arson were committed and bought the gasoline used to set fire to five homes under construction in Mount Sinai in December.

He already could be sentenced to up to 40 years in prison if convicted of the arson charges. The additional count could add another 10 years in prison. Such a lengthy sentence would be unlikely under federal sentencing guidelines, however.

The governement claims it is coincidental that an anti-terrorism statute was used against Cash so soon after the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. This seems to be the first example of the governemnt using the WTC attacks to further increase repression on the Earth liberation movement.

Lock him up! I'll bet he will make a good bitch for someone in prison.

It seems that there's no real difference between the freedom levels in or out of the Jail system. Its time to raise our voice and never give up. If we give up we are already in jail.
I wish Connor an easy way out.
Long live the ELF.

Take care,

I'm pretty sure that arson is a crime, regardless of your political slant. It would be the same if he had burned down a Planned Parenthood building.

In addition: Do you realize that in burning houses, you are WASTING A LIMITED RESOURCE! The wood in the house frames came from (that's right) TREES! And now they have to cut down more to replace what was consumed by the fires you set. Seems kind of counter-productive to someone trying to save the Earth.

"This seems to be the first example of the governemnt using the WTC attacks to further increase repression on the Earth liberation movement"

BTW - what are we trying to liberate the Earth from? Us? Should we all just pack up and leave, or do you prefer the Jim Jones method?

by environment
you do realize that in the fight for environmental justice, corporations break the law and no one does anything about it. ELF is a reaction to the undemocractic and illegal practices of the U.S. government, working with the timber industry, energy industry and corporate media. the campaign, especially in the pacific northwest, is complicated and has a rich and complex history.

but your 5 sentence explanation that reflects little to no understanding of that is really helpful too.

If you knew anything, you little cunt, you would not have written horray.

I believe this post was meant as an example of how powers granted to the US gov't (in a highly spurious manner) are going to be used to round up American activists. The CIA wasn't supposed to be used to surveil amercans either. But they did, and got only a wrist-slap for it.
by Mint (smiling_and_nodding [at] yahoo.com)
you say that corporations break the law and only get a slap on the wrist. this, unfortunately, is true. with money comes power, and power puts you above the law. but by breaking the law and commiting petty acts like arson and vandalism, arent you stooping to their level? admittedly, peaceful protest takes a long time to work, and yes, more direct forms of activism may seem to be the way to go, but really, if you wanna change the world you gotta build it up, not tear it down... burning something down wont change the world, it'll alienate your cause. the best way to change the world is to set a good example, change yourself, and your attitudes, and think positive. and maybe, others will follow.

When you operate on the backside, you can expect to be redefined as we redefine what TERRORISM is. Its inconceivable to if by cloak I came into your yard and destroyed your stuff you would rest applaude. Without the numbers to work the frontside and a frantic heatless fire of nonsense in your SUPERIORITY COMPLEX mind, you will never win. Dont spike my trees or crowd my drive. Dont burn my crest or kick my buttons. Because I will stomp on you, with pride of purpose on my walk of freedom, liberty.
For 350 years my bloodline has volunteered the defense and growth of this freedom I know must now be abridged. But for terrorists and not good reason. In defense of singularitys and plurals. 6000 of my black and brown and white brothers and sisters were killed. 6000 individuals. Few I believe would have ever spiked a shrub. Like my 1/4 cherokee blood does know is just, I fight in spirit for them.

You enviro wackos have too many resources and not enough brains to use them properly. Do you people really think you are helping your cause by engaging in terrorism? You don't even understand that you all have bought into the failed 1960's socialist movement with a decidedly violent twist. Your organizations are now run by former flower children that have always hated the United States, freedom, and what they stand for.
They cheered Jane Fonda in Vietnam and push the agenda of the political extreme left. Karl Marx was their hero, and promoting class warfare was their method. They are now running your organizations because they couldn't sell their own ideas without lying about the real agenda.
You are living proof that stupid people with an education are dangerous.

A stand of old growth takes many hundreds of years to develope. If you spend 2 minutes in such a place, and you have a soul, you will understand something.
Spiking is a crime because greed says so. To call it terror is hysterical. Scaring people is terror. Spiking is an act of love and defyance. Proper warning must be given so no wage slave is harmed.
Harvest the forests and use the lumber wisely. Leave what cannot be replaced in many lifetimes alone. Visit such a place and learn, it may heal you.
