The Istanbul session of the The World Tribunal On Iraq was held from June 23rd through the 27th and consisted of hearings investigating various issues related to the war on Iraq, such as the legality of the war, the role of the United Nations, war crimes, the role of the media, as well as the destruction of the cultural sites and the environment. The session in Istanbul was the culminating session of commissions of inquiry and hearings held around the world over the past two years.
On July 28th the verdict was read by Arundhati Roy, the head of the Jury of conscience. Amongst the clauses the one that stood out the most was the overall support for the resistance in Iraq. Read Full Verdict
