About 100 protesters descended on Adobe HQ in San Jose, to free Dmitry Sklyarov, a jailed programmer arrested by the FBI for cracking Adobe's e-Books copyright scheme. On July 23, Adobe abruptly bowed to public outcry and recommended the release of the Russian programmer. Electronic Frontier Foundation spokeswoman reads and discusses the Adobe press release and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Latest update: Sklyarov was granted a bail motion at his August 6 hearing. He will be released on a $50,000 bond which his employer ElcomSoft will put up. However, he must remain in Northern California pending his trial. A pre-trial is set to occur in 20 days where Sklyarov will be arraigned.
