But, yes, bombs are a necessary ingredient.
truck + bombs/gasoline barrels = big boom!
anybody see what i'm saying?
with whats happening, i wouldn't be supprised if the new terrorists are leagal immagrants, or home grown high-school students...maybe that's a little bit too far...
but when Afghani women and children are killed it is "collateral damage".
is the word "terrorism" defined by what you are aiming at ?
Ok, well a big part of the danger in declaring war on such an ill-defined target is nestled inside this question: When do we decide the war is over? When will we have defeated terrorism? Has that goal been specifically outlined? Not that I'm aware of. The fact that there is no clearly defined stopping point certainly gives our esteemed leaders an awefully scary amount of freedom to extend the boundaries of this war to whatever suits thier whims.
Should we really beleive that this war will be considered over if the Taliban is overthrown? I kind or doubt it.
All right . . . let's toy with the idea of giving them a stopping point. Let's say that their war effort is, by thier own definition, completely sucessful. That is, lets just say that somehow or another their finely tuned war machine scours the earth and finds absolutely every person on Earth who has ever committed an act of terrorism . . . regardless of which country they may be hiding in . . . finds them and kills them. All of them.
Did we succeed? Well, it seems to me that we will have just created a whole generation of martyrs. And it seems to me that there will just be whole new generation of terrorists who, in the spirit of their lost heros, will have whole new kind of hatred toward the US. A hatred far beyond what we can currently comprehend. A hatred more focused towards specifically avenging their lost heros and making the US pay. And how many countries did we need to provide a show of force to make this happen? How many civilians die in the process? Just how many new enemies are we making in the process.
We didn't win. We just made our prediciment worse.
WE CANNOT DEFEAT TERRORISM.
It won't go away. This is a sad sad truth. But it is one that we have to live with. There will be bad people doing bad things. This is a sad fact of life.
So should we just lay down and take it when someone does something as horrible as what we saw on September 11th?
HELL NO. That is not the message here.
But, we need to act rationally not emotionally . . . we need to treat these people like criminals rather than treating this like an act of war. We need to investigate the situation thoroughly and procede to bring the individuals responsible to justice.
Justice not War. Stop the bombing.
And yes bombs of all sorts, shapes, sizes, do kill terrorists.
But I believe we can hit all of their hives where the new dogs are made, with enough of our bombs to effectively muzzle and leash whatever few may remain.
Constant control and observation of those who speak positively to harming American citizens is the new reality. Zero tolerance for religios control of governments.
Religion is the cancer here our forces will defeat. The religion of the Talibanians.
But we arent learning this lesson are we. Damn shame.
