This notice is for a Special Meeting of the KPFA Local Station Board, the correct time of which is Thursday April 30 at 11:00 am, on Zoom (information is below). The LSB cancelled its March meeting but unlike other Pacifica stations did not reschedule with remote attendance. The UIR faction majority leaders have tried to cancel this meeting, but it is still scheduled! (see KPFTx.org)....

The current Bylaws were drafted by a group headed by Carol Spooner after the 1999 crisis. At the time It was felt that all-elected Board was the preferred governance structure; however, it had unforeseen consequences.
Reflecting back on the shortcoming of the original 2002 Bylaws, new set of Bylaws were drafted by a group headed by the same Carol Spooner, who helped draft the original Bylaws....

LSBs are the community representatives – they give the community a voice. Instead, the General Managers will answer only to the Executive Director creating a truly top-down organization – a far cry from the grass-roots community station envisioned by Pacifica’s founders and enshrined in the current bylaws....

My buddy was killed in a tragic car crash while visiting New Zealand a while back. But, the authorities didn't even release his name! He was apparently one of more than 5,000 foreigners who have been killed in that country since 2000. The truth about the number of visitors killed in NZ, highlighted recently by the White Island volcano disaster, is very disturbing....
