CFA Members File Unfair Practice Charge Over Cal Poly Humboldt’s Campus Closure
May 9, 2024 - This week, CFA members filed an Unfair Practice Charge with California’s Public Employer Employee Relations Board (PERB) over Cal Poly Humboldt administration’s decision to close the campus for the remainder of the spring semester. Management took the extraordinary step of closing down the campus last month in response to students protesting the war in Gaza when other campuses around the country have remained open despite fairly large actions and police responses. At Cal Poly Hu...

UNRWA and Co: Netanyahu's war against the truth
Journalists and Israel critics as Hamas accomplices
The Netanyahu government has also been very successful in spreading narratives that declare anyone who supports the Palestinians in Gaza with humanitarian aid, reports on their suffering and criticizes the actions of the Israeli government as Hamas accomplices, Hamas misunderstanders and anti-Semites....

Compassionate Genocide
The issue is not whether and how Israel lets trucks with the much-needed supplies into Gaza; it is the nearly two-decade-long siege of the Strip, worsened by the most recent devastation. Both literally and figuratively, humanitarianism does not ameliorate the situation on the ground. On the contrary, humanitarian discourse strives to make the intolerable barely tolerable....

Our Zone of Interest: The Noise of Permanent Warfare
Wars (especially when marketed as humanitarian, defensive, or “against terror”) are, in essence, criminal means to “easy money”, which is what keeps today’s financial bubbles inflated to record-breaking highs while the actual economic conditions of millions of workers (or “inactive workforce”) are cratering at an equally record-breaking pace....

When will we finally end the party of the arms companies?
The people, however, want the opposite. They are afraid of war. They want peace and civil conflict resolution. They want social welfare and a decent standard of living. That is what politics should focus on. Unfortunately, in the current hysterical mood, there are only a few who have the courage to be pilloried as "party crashers", pro-Putin, pro-Hamas, pro-Mullah and other autocrats...

Congress confuses Ukraine with Sudetenland!
On Saturday, the US House overwhelmingly passed A $95 Billion bill to fund much more violence in Ukraine and Israel (and including some $8 Billion to ramp up military tensions on China). In explaining support for their militant vote, many GOP reps dredged up an absurd analogy to Hitler's taking over Sudetenland in 1938, to justify their support for military aid to Ukraine....

The peace teaching of Jesus of Nazareth is thrown to the wind
Jesus, the Christ, taught love of God and neighbor, nothing else, but this has to be learned. But if not even the clear teaching of peace of Jesus of Nazareth in the biblical Gospels is taken seriously and followed by Bible believers, then we can conclude that the Bible mix has caused enough mischief for long enough....

The sun is setting in the West
The West's misjudgement also applies to the course of the war, where the Russian army is advancing again after the failed counter-offensive in Ukraine. There is a shortage of weapons, ammunition and soldiers. The strategy of wearing down the West seems to be working. In the US, the Biden administration is already encountering difficulties in mobilizing further war credits....

We don't have to be enemies
We demand a ceasefire. The release of the hostages. An end to the military occupation of Palestine. We stand side by side with our Palestinian friends. There is no alternative to peace in Israel and Palestine. Not for Jews, not for Palestinians and not for the other people who live there. This is not naïve, but realistic and pragmatic. It is not radical, but the only option to end the suffering...

On the Ukraine war: "The end result will be a frozen conflict"
The West, primarily the USA, will not accept a final peace agreement in which Russia retains a substantial part of Ukrainian territory. Even if it is a frozen conflict, the West and the Ukrainians will go to great lengths to subtly undermine Russia's position in the areas of Ukraine it has conquered. The Russians will go to great lengths to ensure that the Ukrainian rump state remains weak....

Words on war and peace
"Every cannon that is built, every warship that is launched, every missile that is fired is ultimately a theft from those who are hungry and have nothing to eat, those who are cold and have no clothes. A world under arms not only squanders money. It also squanders the sweat of its workers, the spirit of its scientists and the hope of its children." (45) former President Dwight D. Eisenhower...

USA delivered a pre-emptive strike to Russia prior to the terror attack on Moscow
The White house said it sent Moscow a "warning" prior to the massacre at Crocus concert hall last week. However, it appears the message was a non-specific, boiler-plate that contained no actionable intelligence. Thus, the useless alert could only serve a diversionary tactic; indeed, only as a "pre-emptive" informational warfare strike designed solely for the purpose of "plausible deniability" for the USA...

NATO and the new Cold War
In the period between 1999 and 2023, 14 states of the former Warsaw Pact were admitted to NATO in several stages: an increasing threat to the Russian Federation due to the ongoing shift of NATO's eastern borders to Russian territory. In 2018, Trump terminated the Arms Control Treaty, the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty & in 2020 the Open Skies Treaty....
